If you’re like me — and I know I am — you think of TNT as home to NASCAR and black-and-white movie reruns. But the cable network has been striving for years to break out with original dramatic material, with shows like The Closer and Saving Grace. This season, they were at it again, with two slick new series that are now nearly finished with their first batches of episodes.
Trust Me is an hour dramedy centered around a pair of ad agency hipsters in Chicago, one responsible and married (Eric McCormack), the other a womanizing rascal (Tom Cavanagh). It’s no Mad Men, and its original title was much better — Truth in Advertising — but the two stars did tape a funny video message for EW on a press screener begging us to put them on our cover.
The other new TNT show, Leverage, is about a team of grifters and hackers led by an ex-insurance investigator (Timothy Hutton) who helps poor victims of corporate greed seek revenge. Personally, it’s my favorite new basic cable drama; last week’s cliffhanger was filled with more twists and turns than Ocean’s 12 and Ocean’s 13 combined (which I guess makes it Ocean’s 25).
But enough about what I think — what do you make of these two new TNT shows, now that they’re about to wrap up their initial runs?

I love leverage.
Am a criminal justice student, Leverage was just up my alley. Never dull, very action packed, and a crew that seemed to just fit together. Reminded me of a mix between A Team and Oceans 11, 12, and 13. Creative, inventive, and full of suspense. An edge of the seat program. Looking forward to the shows return this summer.

I think Leverage is one of the better new shows to be aired this year. The whole cast seems to work very well together and the plots are quite interesting. Also, who doesn’t like seeing the screws put to the big corporations.
LOVE Leverage! Awesome show! Hope it doesn’t get cancelled like my other favorite! (Pushing Daisies)
I think Leverage is great, but I just couldn’t get into Trust Me. I tried b/c I really like Tom & Eric, but I couldn’t get past episode 2.
I love Leverage! Each show got better with the cast meshing so well. Sterling is a great nemesis for the team. I can’t wait for the new episodes in summer
“Truth in Advertising” is a better title. Regardless, my interest in this series quickly waned…
I love Leverage! The way they ended the first season last night was genius! I wasn’t the biggest fan of the supporting characters initially but they’ve grown on me and now I really like how they form a cohesive unit.
Couldn’t stick with Trust Me. I tried because I like Eric McCormack but I just could not do it.
I really enjoyed Leverage, and am very glad that it’ll be back in the summer. Its a fun show with great characters. I tried Trust Me and wanted to like it, but just couldn’t get into it. I liked the buddy-dynamic of Eric McCormack and Tom Cavanagh, but I found the Monica Potter character completely irritating. I didn’t get past the second episode.
I adored Leverage. What a fantastic show? It’s clever, the cast has tremendous chemistry and is doing a terrific job. It is one of my favorite shows.
I wasn’t interested in Trust me however and have no desire to watch it.
I love Leverage, I could get into Trust Me. Just like I love the Closer, but Saving Grace it to way out there for me.
Keep Leverage coming. I missed last night’s season finale, I hope I can see it online somewhere
I really like Leverage – lots of fun. As for Lie to Me, I hated it instantly. The Tom Cavanaugh character is neither lovable or hateable. It might’ve been more interesting if he were more of a d^&k and we were forced to like him anyway (see: Mad Men). Or perhaps it would’ve been more interesting to have the lead actors play against type, and reverse their roles. I think Eric McCormack could’ve been enjoyable as the irresponsible one.
Absolutely loved Leverage!!! Always watched and even rewatched episodes on the computer. Trying hard to get attached to Trust Me, but I get further and further from watching with each episode. I just feel empty after each episode.
I love Leverage. I’m so glad its been picked up for another run. The characters have great dynamics and chemistry. I would say it better than 3/4 of the shows on abc right now.
