Sometimes I think I watch the entire season of the various Real Housewives just so I can relish in every minute of the reunion episodes.
Last night, the O.C. cast reunited, and even though it didn’t produce any walk-offs (thanks, NYC!) or almost fist fights (thanks, Atlanta!) it still stirred the drama pot up so much that I was staring at my television screen in awe of what I had witnessed.
The scene was much like that of a high school cafeteria, with the "cool" girls Vicki and Tamra on one couch, and the "wanna be" cool girls, Jeana, Gretchen, and Lynne on the other. No doubt this placement was intentional by producers as host Andy Cohen kept singling out Vicki and Tamra for being the mean girls of the season.Those mean girls (plus Jeana) proceeded to make Lynne cry by continuously poking fun at her for being an airhead (personally, I think Lynne seems like a nice person. The other ladies probably can’t deal with the fact that she doesn’t need to be the center of attention all the time).
The most scandalous part of the evening, however, unfolded when Tamra spilled the (not-so-shocking?) news that Gretchen, the newbie who spent the entire season taking care of her dying fiance and staring at her pimped out engagement ring, has actually had a boyfriend on the side the entire time. Seemingly unaffected by Tamra’s accusations, Gretchen explained that said boyfriend was a "stalker." Then she called him a "friend," and finally a "family friend." To quote Erin from The City on Monday night: "I smell a little ahi tuna..something’s fishy."
This morning I came across an article with pictures of this mystery man and Gretchen, so it seems she’s been swimming in a pool of lies. I’m not so sure I actually care though, because as a reality show "character," I kind of love the amount of absurdness the young blondie brings to the O.C. I wonder though, now that her "fiance" has passed away, will Bravo keep her on board?

Honestly, all of these women are complete nuts. The show is entertaining to watch because of this, but my guess is that they’re all untruthful about their lives in one form or another. So singling Gretchen out is completely pointless. I guarantee that if some digging was done into the other four ladies’ lives, we would find some sordid little details as well.
Why wouldn’t they keep Gretchen around since Jeff passed away? They have Bethanny on NYC and she’s not married.
The whole scene last night was so funny. Tamra looks like a middle school girl who is so jealous she can’t even stand herself. Gretchen comes off looking suspicious, but I’m sorry – a strange man gets Tamra’s phone number and calls a comlete stranger – WHY? He doesn’t call one of Gretchen’s ‘real’ friends – he calls Tamra! I think its ridiculous – but that is why we all watch this addictive train wreck.
I heard Gretchen lives with Slade Smiley now so she’ll probably be back next season. But if she were a paid caretaker-why the engagement ring? Let’s call her what she is-a nookie girl.
(Shaking my fist angrily.) Damn you Bravo for sucking me into this mess.
niki, i disagree with you. All the other women have their whole families involved on the show. Gretchen was kind of the odd man out the whole time. She’s not married, doesn’t have kids, her family isn’t around. While I dont’ nessesarily think that she’s as full of crap as she came off last night, I also think that the other ladies are shown pretty true to form.
I hope they give Gretchen the boot – she is annoying. I don’t care about her relationship with Jeff or the Jay guy. I just think she should own up to whatever it is she is doing… or at least learn to lie better!!
Also, how she was saying Tamera got her drunk – umm NO she was the one who took the drinks, it’s not like they told her it was coke and they spiked it! If anything she gave into peer pressure and at 30 she should be over giving into peer pressure.
She just wants her 15 minutes of fame, just like Jo and Slade, who I am also happy are no longer on the show. Perhaps the Hills will cast them – they sure act like that cast.
I’m surprised no one just called out Tamara for being what she clearly was: Jealous! A new younger, blonder, hotter girl came along and stole her thunder, she was pissed! End of story…
The reunion show was so dull, with the exception of Tamra’s attack of Gretchen. Unless Gretchen was a willing participant in this reveal, she could have diffused the attack by simply saying that the details of personal relationships are none of her concern. Even with the alleged texts sent and conversations had, it’s all hearsay. The show would have been better served by keeping the focus on the things that did aired, like deeper exploration about teenage drinking, or Tamra using the word “homo” to describe Slade’s attire in the finale episode. As an out gay man who has been hosting these reunion shows for eons, Cohen missed the boat as he seemed more interested in pitching those stupid t-shirts than in giving fans some real fire and laughs over the most talked about moments of the season.
Does Tamra own a hairbrush? Why doesn’t she use it?
When I watched the reunion last night, I couldn’t believe just how hatefull and mean Tamra…And Vicki were to the other girls.
They would put doen Lynne, Jeana and especially Gretchen, then expect them to cozy to them.
I thought that IF Gretchen did have someone on the side, who gives a flying F+++. Gretchen’s beloved fiance is dying. Her fiance loves her to death…And, he would understand that Gretchen is young, beautiful and she may have needs that he himself cannot fulfill. I believe that he knew that she had a sexual friend on the side. He just didn’t want to hear about it.
After all, we are biult to be sexual and we are supposed to, as an adult, want to have sex.
I am speaking openly about something that happens, but know one talks about. Gretchen is a human being that has wants and needs just like we all do. She was in a tough, painfull situation, that none of us would want to be in.
What I don’t get is Tamra??? She showed herself to be a hatefull, mean, envious B
I felt so bad for Lynne last night. They were just terrible to her, and the fact that Vicki was like, “She therw a rock,” and then told Lynne to stop crying… that was ridiculous. Vicki and Tamra feel so insecure and threatened by everyone that they see they have to attack them. They are just sad, cruel people.
I wish more people had the balls to tell someone to mind their own effing business. If Gretchen was lying or not, its NOT Tamra job or business to “out” her. She is a classless mean spirited a$$hole. BTW.. where would she be without her husbands $$$ And Vicki is another a$$hole who is being the popular girl now because she oviously wasn’t that girl in high school.
tamra and vicki are ridiculous. tamra is absolutely jealous of gretchen. also, tamra is white trash who just happened to marry into money. she has no class whatsoever. vicki is just plain mean. lynne seems like a nice woman and when she was crying vicki made it about her. get over yourself vicki! even if gretchen was secretly seeing this man why is it ok to be nasty to her. vicki had no right to ask her if she slept with him.
I think that Gretchen was so worried that people, especially Tamra, would think she is a gold digger. So she didn’t do the appropriate thing, marry her love. I’m afraid Gretchen will regret this later. She should have married him…Even in the hospital. It was yours to take, Gretchen. You should have married him. Tamra was so jelous, that she was insane.
Gretchen, I believe, you stole Tamra’s thunder. You had everything, you are gorgous. Your fiance wanted you to have everything. That made him happy. I think that Gretchen is beyond beautiful she took the spotlight off of insecure Tamra and Tamra wasn’t going to let that happen, so she sabotoged Gretchen with a vengence…Sick!
Gretchen, if you were sleeping with this guy, it’s no body’s business. It was clear that you loved your fiance and that he spoiled and loved you…You should NEVER apologies for that. And the ring, it’s yours, a gift…Never take it off if you don’t want to. It’s a symbol of someone you loved…
Gretch, you don’t have to defend yourself to scanks like Vicki and Tamra. Vicki I think lowered herself to Tamra’s level. Vicki, your better than that, at least you were.
Gretchen, it’s OK to take whats given you out of love. He wanted you to have everthing and more. It doesn’t mean you are a gold digger.
Remember, God wants us to have everything and to be happy, and to be fulfilled. You don’t owe any explanation for your loves and friends.
Tamra obviously has jealousy problems. They are her problems, not yours. Don’t let it get to you…I know it’s hard.
When I watched this reunion, it reminded me of what I went through, exactly. I was a bartender and my jealous cocktail waitresses hated the attention and gifts I got. They did the same thing to me. It was hard at first because I wanted to be liked. But Tamra and Vicki aren’t worth it. You are beautiful, so know that there will be insane jealousy. I thought Lynne was so special as well. She tried to protect you with the teq.
