to mymind danny boyle has never made a poor film the stuff that wasntso well recieved like a life less ordinary was i thought a brave attempt at doin something differnt to the schmaltzy romcom it tried something different true it was’nt great but he had a go,but idloveto see wot he could do backed by a studio withsome serious dough i meen look at wot paul greengrass did with the bourne saga a british documentry maker without any commercial success but a truly great director

Mr. Boyle takes a half-baked script, shakes the camera fiercely, and then scampers off to another genre before modern-day short-attention-span audiences realize just how badly they’ve been snowed. “Sunshine” was a perfect example of this: Alex Garland’s typical array of characters completely lacking in sense haplessly blunder their way to a non-ending… but, BOY HOWDY, LOOK AT ALL THEM PURTY EFFECTS! And ALL THE SHAKY CAMERAWORK! And all the BRIGHT, SHINY STUFF!! Danny Boyle is an ADHD hack. I look forward to this time next year, when he’ll have carommed into another genre without a thought in his head, let alone a finished script in his hand, and you’ll all be saying, “What the hell just happened? Didn’t this dope win Best Director last year…?”

I’ve noticed he has had a pattern of doing an extremely intense and bleak film, followed by a feel good movie. Sunshine is probably my favorite Danny Boyle film, but I’m a huge fan of every single movie he has directed besides The Beach. What ever he does next I hope its a genera he has not yet attempted.

Thanks for pointing out the brilliant Millions – I can’t believe this movie was so widely overlooked. There was so about it that pointed to his eventual success with Slumdog – its all there, the cute kids, the energy, the suspense.
Boyle has always been one of my favourite directors – and am extremely chuffed he is getting his just rewards. Am almost certain its going to translate into more great things from him.

I agree with those of you who want to see Porno made. As far as I can tell, Boyle and most of the cast are willing, but he said in an interview that he has to wait until they all start looking a bit older – specifically Robert Carlyle. I do definitely want to see it made, and I have faith in Danny Boyle that he will make it more than just a sequel, and a movie to stand on its own two legs.

I had no idea Danny Boyle directed SDM and i can’t tell you how happy i am for him…. I saw his first, horribly titled film ‘Shallow Grave’ and was knocked down, and i am not easily impressed……. then he followed with ‘Trainspotting’, but i knew he was a force to be reckoned with with SG and damn if he did’nt get Euwen McGregor, the best Scottish actor in 30 years, and Kerry Fox (who should have won every oscar available for ‘an angel at my table’ by Jane Campion) for his first film…. DB is an auteur, a director’s director, and ‘a life less ordinary’ notwithstanding, i hope he chooses to keep it smaller and more real, using lesser known actors like DiCaprio at the time, and Tilda Swinton, and the entire cast of SDM, and making films that subvert genres and turn small ideas into monster themes… rock on Boyle, I’ve loved you since your first movie and will continue to praise you
