i still feel bad for Mickey….
For the first time, they found a way to speed up the technical categories without making the winners feel unimportant by making them give their speech in the crowd or anything. Plus the winners in all categories and Jerry Lewis did a good job of keeping the speeches short. I also loved the opening bringing to light that very few saw the Reader and that the only reason Dark Knight wasn’t nominated is because its a comic book movie. I saw both, The Reader would be nominated in the “mediocre picture” category.
I enjoyed Hugh Jackman and didn’t think they gave him enough time. i really enjoyed past Oscar winners presenting the winner this year. Did I miss seeing Heath Ledger when they did the montage of those who died in 2008. I don’t remember seeing him.
I’m part of the Slumdog-is-waaaaaaaaaaaaaay-overrated coalition, but I’m not gonna be bitter about the academy’s lovefest with it. Rather, I take solace in the fact that history will reveal it to be the Shakespeare in Love of our generation
Hugh Jackman won a Tony for his role in The Boy From Oz, so I think a lot of people knew he could sing and dance.
Heath Ledger was in last year’s montage. He died in January, before last year’s Oscars.
loved the seating in the round
loved tina fey and steve martin
loved the staging, for once
Sean Penn is an idiot!!!!!!!!!!! The majority of decent people in the state of California, as well as the U.S., oppose gay marriage.
I really enjoyed this year’s telecast. I wasn’t bored and I thought Hugh Jackman did a great job.
I have not seen the Oscars for many years, they where getting boring. I thought last night with Jackman and the format was great. The best show ever.
Bruno’s Jennifer Aniston comment reminded me of one of the most cringe-worthy moments of the evening: When she and Jack Black were doing their bit, I was praying that the camera wouldn’t cut to Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, hoping against hope that ABC and the director of the show wouldn’t stoop so low as to slither around tabloid level. Sadly, my hopes were dashed. Tacky, tacky, tacky.
I hated the 5 presenters in the acting categories. It was tedious and horribly pretentious. I WANT to see the Oscar clips! They’d better bring back the clips for next year. I don’t want someone summarizing the performance, I want to SEE the performance. It was like a circle-jerk.
WTF happened why in the world did sean penn win mickey rourke deserved the oscar. like every year the academy awards is getting worse each year. slumdog millionaire is not even a good movie i dont know why people are going crazy about it. There where way more better movies that should have one best pictures. Congrates to Heath Ledger, Kate and Penelope about time the academy did something right.
It still took them a year to acknowledge the passing of Roy Scheider. He died before last year’s Oscar telecast.
The camerawork on the memorial section was a travesty. You couldn’t see most of the people who had died. Disgraceful! And having Queen Latifah sing was a misfire, too: Are you supposed to watch her, or are you supposed to recall the memories of those who are no longer here? Dumb, dumb, dumb!
