Having the LOST storyline advance three years now accommodates a more physically mature Walt. Hope we see more of him too and finally come to learn the importance of his and Aaron’s “specialness” to the Island’s evolution.
When a grown up Walt visited Hurley at the mental hospital, I was so excited because I was convinced that this meant he was coming back into the fold. I hope he comes back. And I think that Charlie told Hurley to get on that plane.
This episode had as many holes as the Communist stimulus plan of the One-Term Criminal from Illinois.
A question I had is when they return to the island, are they in 2007 or 1980-something? Is is possible that Jin was recruited by a Dharma initiative that was not purged by Ben, due to the changed past? Jin hasn’t aged…
And not one castaway asked Mrs. Hawkings “WHY do the other survivors need us,” or “WHY do we need to go back?” Even, “WHY is the Island moving through time and if it is, why the multiple physical locations marked on that big globe?”
And wasn’t that coffin shorter a couple of seasons ago? I’m confused!
i think it’s noteworthy that eloise hawking said that if they don’t come close to recreating the original flight scenario, the results could be unpredictable. why would she say that if they’d be able to go back to the island in one try? sure, it scared jack to hear that, but that’s something i could see her telling hurley, the more trusting character. jack pretty much disregarded her advice, save for his retrieval of christian’s shoes, and went to the airport as he would have before. the 3 of them obviously got to the island, but maybe not having people like walt on the plane caused them to go to the wrong time period. i have no idea, but it seems silly for eloise to give that warning for no reason.
Wow, an actually story was told in this episode, as opposed to the last 3 which were one long movie. Best episode of the season. I bet Jin is Charlotte’s father.
I’m astounded at the sloppy writing of no one really caring abuot the possibility that everyone else on the plane would die. Jack didn’t even think about it until the last minute, then let it go. Hurley bought as many seats as he could, but still made no effort to stop the situation. And Frank, the worst offender, continued flying on the same path despite knowing the plane would go down! Unbelievable!
And yes, I’m still not truly convinced of why anyone would want to go back to the island, outside of Ben and Sun. Everything’s just too convenient.
initial thought on the guy that spoke to jack in line at the airport: analucia’s brother
Such a good episode and so many questions:
-why did Kate leave Aaron? Where is Aaron?
-Why is Sayid, who looks like he was under arrest, going to Guam?
-Who beat up Ben and why?
-What year is it on the island now? Did Locke stop the wheel during the 1970s Dharma phase, so now all our islanders like Sawyer and Juliet work for Dharma?
-What convinced Hurley to come back?
-The biggest question for me is: If I was the flight attendant and saw the Oceanic 6 ALL ON MY PLANE TOGETHER, there’s NO WAY I would let that plane leave the ground!
The Y the Last Man book Hurley was reading looked to be One Small Step. In this edition, three astronauts return to earth, literally fall from the sky. Who are the astronauts…two men and a pregnant woman. In the final minute of Lost last night we only see three people, two men, Hurley and Jack, and a woman, Kate. Lost made sure you assumed Jack and Kate got it on in that one scene and the shows loves to take something away and then have you get it back on the island. Locke’s ability to walk for example. Kate lost a child, Aaron, now she will be granted one on the island. In short, think Kate is pregnant.
1. The plane crashed in 2008, but on the way down, there was a flash so the O6 go back in time, while the other random people crash with the plane – thats why there wont be any wreckage.
2. Ben killed/seriously injured Penny. His “loose end to tie up with an old friend” is an obvious reference to his promise to Widmore about hurting his daughter. Desmond just so happens to be in town – coincidence? doubt it. Desmond put up a fight and beat down Ben.
3. Hurley got out of jail like he was supposed to (according to Ben’s Lawyer). Ben then gave evidence to show that Sayid was the actual murderer of those people. That lady on the plane was transporting a prisoner off of American soil to be tried for international torture charges.
LisaMama – good point about the Oceanic 6 on the same flight!!
Apprarently, Oceanic doesn’t fly to Guam, since the 6 had lifetime passes…
