Long before Serena and Blair ruled their school, before Degrassi had a next generation, before Pete and Pete had any adventures, there was Ferris Bueller. But just after that, there was Parker Lewis Can’t Lose, a fondly remembered early-’90s teen show. You can relive all the garish outfits (a la Blossom), weird gadgets (cough, Zack Morris’ cell phone, cough), and geeky sidekicks (think David Silver in the early days of 90210) now that PLCL is coming to DVD! ShoutFactory is releasing the first season of Parker Lewis Can’t Lose June 30, which means at least some of you PopWatchers will be spending your Fourth of July weekends on the nostalgia train. Writing about Parker Lewis, I started thinking about other why-isn’t-this-on-DVD shows. The top of my list: Sisters. Dudes, for reals, I would do just about anything for that show to be on DVD. And Viva Variety would be nice, too, as long as we’re making wishes. So tell me, PopWatchers, what shows are you desperately hoping come to DVD soon?

Flying Blind, Tea Leoni’s first series on Fox.
“Andy Richter Controls the Universe” is finally coming out in March…so I’m good.
ooh i’ll second sisters. even some syndication would be welcomed for that show. i haven’t seen teddy, alex, and the gang in a very long time.
whenever this question comes out, there’s only two shows that comes to mind: the wonder years and ally mcbeal. both series have “best of” dvds out. i remember hearing that the music rights are what’s holding them back. personally, i wish they’d just resolve that and release them already. even if they dropped the song and had subtitles that said “listen to the byrds ‘turn turn turn’ here.” i would be okay with that!
Off Centre & Haunted
Designing Women!! I can’t understand how this hasn’t happened yet. Also, Relativity (with David Conrad). I loved it so much.
thirtysomething!!!
Batman. Seems unlikely due to the legal issues.
My sister bought seasons 1 & 2 of “The Pretender” and we watched that this weekend. I may take a look into PLCL, and I agree with the call for “Sisters”.
The Wonder Years. Why isn’t that on DVD yet?
Head of the Class!!!!!
I’d like the rest of several series where they just released the first (or just a few) seasons — Murphy Brown, Hill Street Blues, St. Elsewhere, Anything But Love, etc — would also like to have Chicago Hope and (I’ll whisper it so no one can hear me) – Cop Rock
Max Headroom
Midnight Caller
7 Days
Ed! I’ve been waiting for that to be on DVD since it was cancelled five years ago. I keep hoping someone from the show will become a huge breakout star so there will be some incentive to release it, but so far only Justin Long has really hit the big time, and that doesn’t seem to be enough reason to release. Come on NBC, I’d spend $100 per season to be able to enjoy this show again!
20 Minutes Into the Future. Most underappreciated sci-fi ever.
The rest of Picket Fences! Season 1 is out already, but I’ve been left wanting for more…
