Rumors about what the heck is going to go down during the upcoming The Bachelor: After the Final Rose special (which airs the first week in March, in two parts) have been furiously swirling around the Internet the past couple of days, thanks in part to mysterious previews at the end of Monday’s episode, and host Chris Harrison’s EW.com blog. ("Something happens that’s so stunning anddramatic, we taped it in private without an audience," Harrison writes. "This is a moment in Bachelor history you don’twant to miss.") I know what you’re all thinking: What could Bachelor Jason Mesnick possibly do that would be so "stunning" and "dramatic"? Er, besides engaging in steamy hot tub love only to send the girl home because he only saw her as just a friend (cough Jillian cough)?
Well, a blogger who goes by the name of "Reality Steve" claimed early today that he’s got the answer to our thorny question: Jason, he says, apparently chooses Melissa in New Zealand, then during said special, dumps her and starts dating runner-up Molly. (Seriously, this dude analyzes the reality show in a similar way that our own Doc Jensen analyzes Lost). A spokesperson for ABC had no comment on Reality Steve’s so-called speculation, and I’m not so sure I do either. I mean, that would be crazy right? RIGHT?
Bachelor fans, speak up: what are you thinking is going to happen during the After the Final Rose special? Could these rumors possibly be true? And if so, would this make you hate Jason or respect him for following his heart (even if it is a little after-the-fact)?

i read the entire blog today, and if it is true and jason does this to melissa he will look like the biggest a-hole. i was so excited to find out he’d be the newest bachelor but if this happens i will have lost all respect for him. Make Melissa the new bachelorette!
Perhaps Little Ty put his foot down and didn’t like daddy’s choice of new mommy?
Perhaps meeting the parents of Melissa finally put off daddy’s first choice of new wife and mommy?
Perhaps the country club life was more suited to Jason’s future and he changed his mind thinking of all that money and party hats to inherit?
I guess whoever he is engaged to finally will get to figure out if he is worth it, if they can handle not only Jason but his ex and all that entails, if she is willing to move to Seattle and give up her entire life and career for a man she has known for only six weeks? I think this show has finally jumped the shark
Gotta admit, it’s quite a story Reality Steve has there.
As an FYI, the show’s ratings are up this season (NY Times ran a piece on it this week), so why the need to resort to this deception? I believe Fleiss and ABC knew they had a winner with Jason for viewers.
If this turns out to be true, and Melissa was a pawn for ratings, I’m done with this show. The quality of women they picked truly was poor –another ratings ploy I’m sure.
I suspected manipulation with Jason’s choices when the crew of hard women hung on a little too long.
Shame on Jason and Molly. Don’t they know you can never find happiness at the expense of another?
Regardless of how this season of the Bachelor winds up, I’m pretty fed up with the way the show was run this year and the quality of women. The show, IMHO, as sunk so low, I don’t really care with whom Jason ends up with.
He’s not going to wind up with either of the girls anyway.
I will not watch again. I have watched from the beginning, but no more. It is sick to humiliate Melissa and exploit a 3 yr old child for ratings and money. They all should be ashamed of themselves!~
if the rumors are true, then Jason and Molly are heartless, soulless cowards without a shred of decency between the two of them.
Melissa should run, not walk away from this show. There is no way she should consider allowing ABC to make her the Bachelorette, just so they can make more money at her expense.
I just have to say that if this is true, and he does humiliate Melissa on tv, he will go down as being the biggest a-hole in history. And Molly, if she knows? I mean, I can’t imagine how people would be this cruel and that ABC could get soooooooo pathetic and low for ratings. This is a depression, but c’mon, at the stake of other people’s lives? Is it really worth that much?
IF it’s true, Jason isn’t the guy we all thought he was…ABC could be paying someone to feed this fool lies. It might be a huge scam
ABC, JASON, MOLLY? THEY WILL NOT GET MY APPROVAL. WHAT AN A@#
I heard he picks last year’s Bachorlette. Someone I know knew someone on the show.
You should probably put a spoiler warning….
I think what Reality Steve is saying is true but this poor Melissa thing doesnt jive – she is likey in on it, paid for it and a plant from the outset
ABC, you should be ashamed of yourselves! The lengths you will go to for ratings is deplorable. Toying with people’s lives in this manner is reprehensable!!!!!!
How can Jason possibly do that to Melissa?? That is awful! Nobody deserves that kind of treatment. I was speechless when I read the blog. Regardless of the fact that it is a show and we all know some things will be edited and scripted, but to pull something like this is totally crossing the line. I will not watch the show again.
I think it is sick. I do believe this is true and that Jason is king of A-holes and Molly is right there with him. I do not think Melissa deserves this and can’t imagine that she would but herself through this again as the Bachelorette. The main “vibe” on the blog sites, (I read many of them) is disgust and that ABC has gone too far. I am so angry that someone could be so cold.
I think Jason and Molly will have to hide because they will be hated by many people.
The Bachelor is never THAT dramatic…even though they promise to bring the drama. My guess is he’s going to choose Melissa and then her parents are going to appear on the after the rose.
Reality Steve seems to think this was all planned by ABC from the beginning. That makes sense for short-term ratings, but turning Jason into a villain wouldn’t really serve the franchise. If Jason really picks Melissa and then dumps her, he’ll only look good if Melissa is made to look unsuitable. Otherwise, how people think about this really depends on the production team. It seems they are working overtime this season.
OMG, I’ve read so many threads today regarding RS Video blog, and yes, I viewed it this morning. If it is true, yes, Jason will come out looking like a major a-hole and Molly will come out looking like a backstabbing b*tch. How can ABC play with someone’s emotions like that???? If it is true, I do not think Melissa should be the next Bachelorette, I for one would not watch it, and two, I don’t think I can handle another season of Melissa bashing. She’s sweet, nice and seems to have a great heart.
I will not watch this show ever again if it’s true.
So I’m hoping it’s not true.
If the rumors are true, then Jason, Molly & The Bachelor producers are the worst kind of scum and will be the most hated reality tv contestents ever.
If the rumors aren’t true, then the CROW population in the U.S. is going to go extinct when all the rumor believers have to eat them.
I don’t like crows, so my fingers are crossed for the latter.
Jason would be the most hated or disliked bachelor in history. I think people would really lose all respect for Jason and whoever is involved in this show. Ok he changes his mind but but if he puts Melissa in that situation where her heartbreak would be aired on tv then that’s just beyond cruel. No one is going to believe or care if he just changed his mind. They will think what a jerk. I just can’t imagine him going along with that. He think he’s happy that he had people rooting him. He shouldn’t want to lose that.
I started watching The Bachelor again this season after not watching since Bob’s season. I thought Jason would be a nice guy since he is a single dad and was dumped on The Bachelorette. I thought this year I would get to watch a great guy fall in love. If the rumors are true and he dumps Melissa on TV because he has been seeing Molly, Jason is an awful, cruel person. I will never watch the show again and instead watch something that does not make me feel dirty. I have given this show enough chances.
Wait…I thought I saw that Deanna was back in the picture. That she came to him saying she made a mistake. Does this mean he dumps both girls and goes back with Deanna? Hmmmmmm….
Wow if these rumors are true! Whats the point of having Deanna come back though?
Are people really worried about Melissa being humiliated? Get over yourselves! This is The Bachelor. Viewers watch to see someone get humiliated every week. That’s part of the draw. And don’t say it’s love, when barely any of the couples last. Part of the reason you watch is to see heartbroken people.
I don’t care if Jason changes his mind. He’s entitled to do so. If that’s what they are going to argue. But for them to have Melissa find out in National TV is wrong, on a lot of levels.
It’s the way that he treates Melissa that makes him a jerk.
If any of this is true, poor ty to be a pawn in daddy’s and molly’s game? where is the ex in all of this, can’t she stop it via a judge about the exploitation of her child for dad’s hormones? LOL
Would it suck if Melissa was humiliated on national tv? Definitely because she seems like a nice person. However, isn’t that part of what you are signing up for on this show? Even if she is picked and then dumped that’s part of the game and you know that from the beginning. I guess I am one of the few that has sort of thought Jason was a bit scummy from the beginning…
I hope the rumors or not true. I just love Jason from the last season and only watched because it was him. If he does this to Melissa on TV I will be done with the show and ABC for allowing this to air.
What the hell is EW doing? This kinda info requires a spoiler alert. Some people don’t even know that he picked Melissa, let alone that he left her for Molly. It is just rude for them to put this sort of comment out there for people who want to enjoy the show as it plays out.
IT’S ALL SPECULATION. NOTHING HAS BEEN CONFIRMED…
I thought, what’s her name is coming back? Jason picks Melissa, then he is confronted by the one that rejected him last season. He promptly sends her home and stays with Melissa……..
