Hey,
I’m Australian and i think it’s safe to say the guys discrimination against Aussie’s is meant to be tongue in cheek. They’re just poking fun at Australia – There’s an unspoken friendly rivalry between Australian’s and Kiwi’s that i think FOTC’s takes advantage of in the most hilarious way with the over top stereotypes as seen in this episode. Kiwi’s often get mistook for Aussie’s when overseas too which, is annoying (it happens both ways) and i think they’re using it for the comedy of the situation – not to be hurtful or discriminatory. Don’t take it personally – i don’t and i don’t think any other Australian’s. In fact i think it’s a compliment to for us to be ‘roasted’ on funniest show on t.v.
Ha, funny episode. Its great to see Australia sent up on TV by people who actually know it well. But its more of an in joke, Americans I spoke too either didnt get it or weren’t that interested.
And as explained the Aus/NZ thing is pretty much like the US and Canada, England and the rest of Great Britain etc.
There’s always a few idiots who take it to far on both sides, but generally its pretty good natured.
Oh and why can’t Kiwi blokes take their girlfriends to the Rugby?
They eat all the grass.
My manager at the restaurant i work at is Australian and nearly all of his jokes have to do with new zealanders and how “dumb” and “ghetto” they are. i think it is just in each of the cultures to continually rip on each other. makes sense i suppose.
