'Battlestar Galactica': Hey, Apollo, get a haircut!

Apollohair_lThere’s no denying that this season of our beloved Battlestar Galactica has been pretty fantastic. But, PopWatchers, something’s been bugging me, and I can’t hold it in any longer: Ever since burning hunk of man Apollo left Galactica, his hair has slowly grown into an approximation of Patrick Swayze’s ‘do circa Dirty Dancing. And during last week’s battle aboard Galactica, that image was so dominant all I could think when he was onscreen was: "ADAMA. HAIRCUT. GET ONE." (Yes, in all-caps. That’s just how I think, sometimes.) I know, I know, blah blah "symbolic break with the military" blah.

Of course, this isn’t the first time thoughts of hair have ruined a scene for me. During Cordelia’s ascension into higher-power land at the end of Angel‘s third season, I completely ignored the fact that she was floating into another dimension and instead concentrated on her massacred, blonde-dyed locks. And Chuck’s floppy, windswept coiffure left no room in my head for dialogue in that "climactic" roof scene a few weeks ago on Gossip Girl.

So tell me, PopWatchers: Am I alone in my horrific shallowness, or do little things like that also bring you down as well?

Who cares about his hair? This is what someone took the time to write an entry about…. do you get paid by the entry? If you’re having trouble concentrating on an episode because of his hair, I think that says more about you then it does the actor. It’s just hair. It’s not a big deal.

Well now I can’t follow your article because I’m too distracted by you calling Apollo a ‘hunk of man’. Wet blanket, more like. If only Tahmoh Penikett had been cast as Lee. Much as I love Helo as a character, the writers have always struggled to find something substantial for him to do, and Penikett is good enough to have deserved better. Jamie Bamber has always struck me as a bit try-too-hard and cheesy. I never bought him as an action hero or military leader in the slightest.

    Haters.
Jamie Barber is great as Apollo. And I found the blog entry entertaining.
    Haters.

    Many people are discussing it

Yes! I am not the only one. His hair has bothered me and has been somewhat of a distraction too. Haircut, please.

  • Emilee

I completely agree. Lee needs to see a barber stat.

Does anyone else think this guy would have been a great Superman?

  • Meredith

Seriously, I wish he would go back to his shorter, hotter hair. On a similar note, Chief should never shave his head again, and neither should Sam. Bald is not always beautiful! That’s what I kept thinking last night.

Hey, an item on EW.com that has nothing to do with “Twilight”! Who woulda thunk?

I’m still not over Cordelia’s bleachy hack-job. It’s all I can think about, every day. It’s cost me my marriage, my job, my kids, my savings.
I’m basically saying that this is no joking matter and I don’t know how much longer I can go on feeling like every day is the end of the world.

Oh yeah, I’ve been saying this for awhile now. Love Lee, but hate the hair. Gak!

Baltar should have never cut HIS hair :)

Someone needs to tell the space hunk that 1) the 80s are over and 2) keep it up and you’ll never get your helmet on.

  • Megg

    Lee’s a cutie, but I definitely agree.

The Cordelia thing! Oh my goodness, I am so glad that someone else pointed that out! But, when she returned in Episode 100, “You’re Welcome.” Pretty curls!
And Adama…he’s a hottie. He needs a better haircut as the new Prez of the colonies.
