Catherine Hardwicke’s Twilight: Director’s Notebook hits shelves March 17, but EW has your exclusive first look in an eight-page spread in the issue hitting stands Friday. (You’ll know you’ve got the right issue when you see Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart staring back at you. Can’t find it in your area? Click here to buy a copy. You really do need to see the watercolor showing the "long ‘timeless’ hair" she originally wanted Edward to sport. We’re glad Pattinson put up a fight.)

Today, however, EW.com brings you your first peek at that first look. Click here to see a sample of Hardwicke’s Twilight: Director’s Notebook.

I Love Stephenie’s Twilight Series! But I was very disappointed in the movie. I had been so excited and hopeful about it but it really missed the essence of the story. Catherine tried to catch the important scenes but they were so chopped up with no real emotion to them. I know everyone tries to make the excuse, that she had to fit the book into a 2 hour movie. Well at least with the time she had, she should of made it as accuate as possible. Even dub in their voices of what they was going through their minds. Bella cooking for her dad, not eating out all the time. The meadow scene actually taking place in a meadow. The vital conversations being in the right places. No Field trips, No police department scenes. This was time that should have been done correctly. Not fillers. The dance and prom were at two different times. In my opinion she ruined a movie that could have been Great! Hopefully this new director will get it right. If not I’m done with the movies. I’ll stay with the books

well i saw the movie first and after the book and the truth there were parts i hardly could understand until i read the book there were so many scenes in the book that were not in the movie so there were part that are confusing…. i guess the director of twilight did so many changes from the original but thats okay i hope the next director would clarify the details more and make the scenes filled with more actions… cause the truth its more interesting when you see the scenes visually than just imagining it through the book……….but i love the actors there unbelievably gorgeous…they portray the character pretty well…

Lori, I totally agree with you! I also think the beginning scenes with the James killing sprees were not necessary. I hate how they changed the car accident scene. Edward didn’t run away. It changed everything. I hated how the director did the scenes following the rescue in Pt Angeles. For crying out loud, Bella left her coat in Jessica’s car. Edward gave her his jacket. I thought that was so important and they cut to much. They left out the lunchroom scenes and the blood typing. The meadow scene was so beautiful and the producer killed it. Bella would have thrown up if Edward took her jumping around and up trees. I hope the other movies are better. They have to remember it is a love story not an action film. If the director took out the ridiculous, they would have had more time to make the movie more accurate. Stephenie Meyers should have made a stink about the changes. Whatever!
