Clip du jour: When Harry and Julie met Stump, Westminster's Best in Show

Stump, the 10-year-old Sussex Spaniel who’s now the oldest Best in Show winner in the history of the Westminster Kennel Club dog show, stopped by CBS’ The Early Show this morning to taunt viewers with his long, pillowy soft ears and his sweet, curmudgeonly mug. He seemed unfazed by dog show fanatic Harry Smith’s determination to get an answer to "What’s his deal?" Or by Julie Chen’s use of her special dog voice. Or by the show’s countdown clock to a live performance by Jessica Simpson. He does deserve a trophy.

What an adorable pookie! I know Julie Chen sounds like an idiot in the segment, but that’s pretty much exactly what everyone says when they see a great dog like that one.

This must be what they call a slow news day.

i’m going to be honest. I watched this last night. It was hilarious. it wasn’t supposed to be, but I thought it was. also, a lot of the dogs really were so cool, so it was fun to flick through and see some of them. Stump was definitely one of my favorites. The fact that he doesn’t look like a poof-ball helps.

Slow news day? What? You’d rather watch the 535 idiots blow another couple trillion on the economy?
