'Brothers & Sisters' recap: A gay ol' time

Last night’s B&S was an enjoyable hour of Walker insanity, mainly because quippy Kevin was back and Nora hit the bottle. Read the full post.

And, by the way, Kitty was talking about WESLEY University (fictional) not Wexley.

really liking Kitty and the way her character is evolving. they seriously need to get rid of Rob Lowe’s character. yeah, get he’s an ambitious political man but he’s way too self-involved to ever truly be an equal partner for Kitty. glad they’re making Rebecca more than an air-head but her too-fast realization that something was wrong with the deal with Tommy and the land just purchased was a little too calculated. Tommy still is really boring as a character. Justin is right up there with him. and has Justin always done that talking-outta-the-side-of-his-mouth-thingy that looks totally scary and freaky??! like Saul and Henry. nice couple. but Scotty is still my personal favorite. he’s so calm and reassuring for Kevin. said it before ~ when they bring back Jason Lewis, if they put him between Kevin and Scotty I will be so done with ‘B&S’. if that happens will N-E-V-E-R watch another episode!!!!!

This was exactly the type of powerhouse episode the show needed to get on track. Ever since this show began the writing has been one week spectacular the next week in the toilet. There seems to never be any consistency in the overall tone of the show. Even now it fluctuates between being a comedy one night to being a drama the next. It’s as if the writer’s are clueless as to how to deliver a consistent dramedy each week. If its going to follow right after a high voltage dramedy such as Desperate Housewives, then it needs to deliver an hour of interesting content. Some nights we get nothing but gay fluff. For the first time in a while the content was a wonderful mix of shock(Justin & his not sister/girlfriend making out), surprise(Nora involved in an open marriage), intrigue(Ryan Lafferty’s phone call), suspense(Rebecca’s awakening to Tommy’s setup), and more, all intermittently broken up by short & sweet moments of clever family banter. Why can’t it be this good every week?

Nothing against the gay characters in this show or any other, but I don’t need or care to watch any show with characters that basically take up time doing absolutely nothing of any relevance. At least the gay characters on Desperate Housewives and Ugly Betty become an intricate part of the various super charged plots each week. Of course that’s another issue with this show- having various super charged plots each week. The gay characters on B&S mostly shop, eat fancy food, and attend parties- not interested, and not to be omitted, Kitty and her husband are also characters that are just about as unimaginative as the writers can make them. For goodness sake, it’s a 10 pm program. Put on a show that shows out!!! Grey’s Anatomy was a barn burner when it was on Sunday’s after Desperate Housewives!

I bet they do. Its absurd that you can invite gay men but not straight men, espectially considering that gay men are less likely to actually have children.
(I am a gay man myself, don’t start. I did not say NEVER have kids or even RARELY have kids, I said less likely, which 100% factually true even in SF, LA, and NYC.)
Lesbians, on other hand are more likely than gay men to have kids. So my question is why just not invite straight men? Or would they actually have not invited say a Lesbian cousin? Silly too me.

Patricia Wettig’s only acting device is her ridiculously annoying speech impediment. And the only people who could possibly believe that Nora and Holly would still be discussing their “shared” man…are men.
