He’s Just Not That Into You opens tomorrow, with Confessions of a Shopaholic in hot pursuit next weekend. But which one are you most excited to see? Not sure yet? Let’s do a quick comparison:
Star Power
HJNTIY: Jennifer Aniston, Ben Affleck, Drew Barrymore, Scarlett Johansson…. Maybe it would be easier if we just list the people who aren’t in this movie. WINNER!
Shopaholic: Isla Fisher (a.k.a. Mrs. Borat), the nymphomaniac from Wedding Crashers.
Source Material
HJNTIY: Based on a best-selling self-help book that’s based on a line from some show you’ve probably never heard of (a.k.a. Sex and the City).
Shopaholic: Inspired by a whole series of best-selling books by Sophie Kinsella. TIE!
Trailer Moment
HJNTIY: Gigi (Ginnifer Goodwin) leaves a delightfully loopy phone message for a suitor (at 00:30).
Shopaholic: Rebecca (Isla Fisher) uses a hairdryer, a shoe, and frightening upper body strength to break an emergency-only credit card out of a block of ice (at 01:37). WINNER!
Looks like it’s too close for us to call right now. But are you just into He’s Just Not That Into You, or will you confess your love for Shopaholic?

Ben Affleck will keep me from HJNTIY, although I enjoyed the book very much. I haven’t read any of the Shopaholic books, but I love Isla Fisher, so I’ll probably go see that.
Saw a sneak preview of Shopaholic and have to say – Isla Fisher is brilliant. A must see!
Go Isla Fisher! CoaS will be awesome, I totally intend to see it.
Haven’t read either book, but Confessions looks better. They both seem like typical rom-coms and will be cheesy, but if you know that going into it I think Isla Fisher will be fun to watch.
After seeing HE’S JUST NOT THAT INTO YOU earlier this week, i have higher hopes for CONFESSIONS. HJNTIY has a bloated cast, and a bloated run time at OVER 2 hours, and most of the screen time is for Kevin Connolly & Justin Long, which leading men, they are not. And I think the bigger ’stars’ Jennifer Aniston, Affelck and Drew Barrymore actually have maybe a total of 20 screen time? Total chick flick, and not a very good one either. Like I said, I hope CONFESSIONS is better, but sad to see it opening against the FRIDAY THE 13TH remake.
isla fisher really irritates me for some reason. i really can’t put my finger on it…so she sorta dampers my urge to go see shopaholic (altho i will admit to reading the books – they’re the kind of easy books you can read in a day at the beach). i did read the other one and it was amusing, as well. dunno if i want to see it made into a movie.
Isla Fisher? I thought it was Amy Adams.
Not interested in seeing either though I have nothing against the cast.
This blog failed to mention that Hugh Dancy is in Confessions of a Shopaholic, making it my choice out of the two for sure!
I’ve read all the Shopaholic books so I’m appalled by what I’ve seen in the trailers. She’s supposed to be a brit!!!
Hugh Dancy for the win. But I’ll probably see both.
Shopaholic looks like another sad Hollywood failure to translate Brit wit; Americans are not idiots, give us the real deal. She’s Just Not into You looks just plain sad.
Bleh. Neither.
I’m going for HJNTIY (that’s horrible to type!) mainly for the star power. Plus, Isla’s fake American accent kind of bugs her acting a bit…
I want to see both, but making Becky Bloomwood American is ridiculous. Half of her charm and humor comes from how English she is! Isla Fisher is great, though so hopefully it won’t be a total loss.
I’d rather poke my own eyes out than see either of these craptastic “movies”. Was that mean?
