That thing cannot be Patsy. It will just insult her. Patsy (and Eddy) are impossible characters &, unless played by Jo & Jen, it ain’t going to work.
Like americans are going to understand it anyway. Lost in translation me thinks =/
They’re to young for the basic storylines to even work. When it comes to this whole idiotic idea, I quote Patsy- the proper, fantastic orginally English Patsy- and say “ABORT, ABORT, ABORT!! chuck it down the pan!”
The best part of this show is that they ARE NOT PC. The british version is so out there and that is what made it so funny. Forget PC shows.Do the remake..spice it up and put on cable.People need to take the stick out and really..lighten up!!
Edina Monsoon can only be brought to life by one woman and that is the Comedy Goddess herself Jennifer Saunders, im sorry but Jo and Jen created something so beautiful and brilliant with that show i think its wrong to try and squeeze more money out of it by saying heres the characters and the background bash the life out of it to make it suitable for american viewing and stick the name Ab Fab on it!!! Im so willing to be proved wrong but please forgive me for my lack of optimism. Jennifer Saunders is a Legend.
Hey, if you have facebook you should join our group protesting this remake.

I’m american and even I know they can’t recreate british gold.
No one ever asked for this! It is the entertainment equivalent of painting swimwear on nude statues. Remaking AbFab for American audiences is an outrageous idea whose result is destined to be a failure. Why not just give us more episodes with the original cast? I’d watch Patsy and Edina if they were in their 90′s!
Possibly the most retarded idea of the century (so far). And to the poster who said Americans won’t understand – well since AbFab was/is a hit here too I’d say the fans understand pretty darned well and seem to be in agreement that this is just not going to work.
lol @ Bill C’s Fawlty Towers comment! You know, even the thought of Roseanne doing the remake years ago was horrifying, and she’d probably be the most suitable to do it. It’s just the thought of remaking it all, and especially an American version since it’s so quintessentially British. Johnston confirms all the worst fears by saying it will be a PC version. What’s the point?
PS… If you want to do a show inspired by Ab Fab with part of the humour coming from having to be more PC, fine… but why use the Eddie/Patsy character names? It’s sacrilege.
I like to see Kristen Johnston back on Tv thats going to be great
I think I’m gonna see it before I judge it. I love the original and if this new series is even HALF as funny as the original, it will be worth it. Kristen Johnston is hilarious and I’ll watch anything with her in it.
I saw the taping of the pilot last night as part of the studio audience. The characters are mostly the same as their UK counterparts, but there is a tendency to make them more sympathetic. The two leads did a good job copying the physicality of the original cast. Patsy’s character is the strongest in this version, owing in part to Kristen Johnston’s talents. I’m a fan of the original and I enjoyed the remake. Though it’s hard to judge the final product because of numerous rewrites and retakes over a 3 1/2 hour taping session, it seems to be well crafted, fast paced and funny.
Do not remake this!! The original is awesome and doesn’t need to be ruined by trying to Americanize it! Have they not learnt anything from trying to remake other British sitcoms.
[...] owed a proper comeback here, it’s Johnston, whose most recent attempt at television was not that absolutely fabulous. [...]
