If Ellie is Hawking (people…stop calling her “Hawkin”), & Hawking is Dan’s mother, then why does Dan have an American accent when his mother (if she is Hawking) have a Brit accent? What’s up with that? I think that Hawking is NOT Dan’s mother but was a “motherly” mentor to Dan. I believe that she’s Charlotte’s mother, & Dan is trying to get Charlotte her “constant,” her mother Hawking, so that Charlotte won’t die. Dan is too American to have any Brit relatives. If you’re raised Brit, you’d retain your Brit accent unless you were a baby taken to the USA at some point in your baby-life & lived in the USA & never picked up your parent’s Brit accent. I’m so confused…
but happily confused cuz that’s the beauty of “Lost,” the best darn show on TV!!!!!! What I want to know is: are the people with Richard (in ’54) natives of The Island or Danielle’s team of fellow scientists? I’m going with Danielle’s team…which would mean that Chas. Widmore was part of Danielle’s team years ago.
What!

Is that kiss a present day kiss?
I give up this damn triangle! I wanted Sawyer and Kate to be together
Rosseau had only been on the Island 20-something years I believe. I think the Others are just natives of the Island. Or brought over by Alpert — who more and more appears to be the actual mastermind behind everything (aside from Jacob of course).
I love when Juliette cooly asks why Locke is interested in Richard. Oh, I don’t know, because he NEVER AGES?!
Maybe Faraday and Charlotte are brother and sister (a kind of Luke and Leia). Ellie and Widmore are the parents and the twins were separated sometime in their young lives. Charlotte was part of early time travel experiments, but Faraday had a “normal” life. He is now trying to save her because he has found out that they are brother and sister based on his recent time travels. Just a thought.
Charlotte is Daniel’s daughter!!!
His love for her is paternal.
Matthew Fox has flaked out on production? Since when?
‘Eleanor’ has nothing to do with “the other” in French. See: http://babynamesworld.parentsconnect.com/meaning_of_Ali%E9nor.html
It has to do with “light” or “pity.” Eloise is the same and has only a loose link to a possible German root meaning “foreigner.”
Did any one else notice that on Widmore’s abstract painting -the one next to his desk -the word NAMASTE was painted toward the top? Great Easter egg!
Eleanor is NOT French for an Other.
The young Widmore’s dialog contains British slang and phrases, so it seems to be implied that he doesn’t originate on the island. He’s probably recruited by Richard elsewhere in the world. Speaking of Richard, I didn’t think we learned as much about him in Jughead as the journalists suggested; there were just more teases… I’m also wondering why he is dressed in contemporary duds in the 1950s, but seemed to wearing “native” clothes when Ben meets him much later. Hmm.
Why is everyone more worried bout who Daniels mother is?
I really don’t care. I don’t see how it’s gonna to make a difference.
I thought the biggest shocker was Witmore was apart of the others in the 50s!
Why is no one else talkin bout that?
Great episode – again.
Here’s something I’m wondering about – what’s the signifigance of the baby boom? I don’t think it’s a coincidence that all these babies are being born.
First we have Aaron, who, I’m certain, is destined to be placed somewhere within the time loop to grow up to become someone who we’ve already come to know as an adult character. I’m not sure what the rules would be for a character to meet their “other” self outside of time but my gut keeps telling me Aaron is Locke. Remember that Locke was adopted and sent Richard Alpert to search for him, I think there’s a destiny factor at work here.
Then we have Ji Yeon – conceived on the island and now growing up fatherless. I don’t know how she would factor in but I know that Carlton and Cuse always have a plan.
And finally newest baby Charlie. Charles. A name that is shared by two key characters. What if these babies are all destined to get moved around the time loop and somehow brought back together as adults?
1. I think Doc J meant Latin, not French
2. Widmore has always had a “Namaste” painting in his office. It was there the last time Des visited him to ask for Penny’s hand.
3. Dan having a different accent from Mrs. Hawking doesn’t preclude her from being his mother. Research shows that childrens’ accents are modeled on their peers, not parents.
4. Since everyone is so convinced that Hawking is Dan’s mom this almost can’t be the case. You know, this it Lost, so anything that obvious is likely to be a red herring.
I love INTO this show we all are LOL it’s the only thing I’ve ever watched (and I’ve watched a lot of tv lol) with such mad fervor, I won’t miss a second of it!! Things I thought were cool #1 seeing widmore as a young man, and a bit of a widge at that, #2 the intriguing tid-bit of the girl left behind by faraday (could he be doing it all for HER?) #3 sawyer & juliette, I kind of love their chemistry! I sincerely hope that the creepy Ms Hawking is Daniel’s mama, that’s too delicious to NOT be true! Did we think it wise that Desmond took Widmore’s word for it – accepted the address without so much as a by your leave, no questions, etc. Who’s to say it’s not a fake?? That he didn’t pick up the phone 2 seconds later to someone FAKe and say “he’s on his way” hmmm… and Penny’s long suffering has to end! she has to get in the game as a more willing participant or she’ll get on my nerves and fast! and AWwwwwww charlie!
