I chuckled when I read that NBC had banned a racy Super Bowl ad from PETA that trumpeted the merits of vegetables. Read the full post.

okay.. uhh that was sick. im not going to eat veggies for like a long time because i will always think of tht sick comercial
I think some meat would have spiced it up a little….where’s the beef?
I suspect PITA knew the ad wouldn’t make it on the air and that it would make it on the internet where it will be seen many, many more times, have a loooooong lifetime, and cost PITA very little.
Too much for TV? Absolutely. PITA raised the bar on tastelessness
Why is it always sexualized naked women? Where’s the half-naked dude with some suggestively-placed gourds? If you’re going to perv, at least equal-opportunity perv.
Well, heck, pornography is a step up from terrorism, so good on ya, pita!
I don’t think that this ad is much worse than the beer, ED or Victoria’s secret ads we will no doubt see on Sunday. However, maybe PETA did the right thing by making this ad – it is now all over the interent and sparking this sort of debate. If what PETA REALLY wants is people to notice them, they have done that. PETA goes too far for me – I don’t believe in animal testing, but do like a cheeseburger every now and again.
Sooo, in the name of saving animals, it’s okay to exploit woman with this soft porn “message”? I thought Victoria Secret ads had the lock on “soft porn as advertising” but I guess PETA decided to give them some competition, by adding the licking and grinding! I totally agree that PETA did this for the free (excuse the expression) exposure on the internet, and have made a mockery of the cause they seek to serve.
Racy, gross and all too typical of PETA as a hypocritical media whore. And snarky, not to quibble, but if you’ve ever taken any prescription drugs or had surgery, you’ve benefitted from animal testing.
Not sure how using exploitation (of women) as an attempt to stop exploitation (of animals) is supposed to garner sympathy or support. And I’m with Ann regarding questionable study findings. And I’m an omnivore who loves my veggies, but that add brought about all SORTS of unpleasant imagery that will definitely affect my next plate of broccoli.
I wish these people would quit pushing their agenda. If we weren’t supposed to eat meat we wouldn’t have the teeth for it.
Really? People think that ad is too racy? HELLO? Do you guys actually WATCH the ads during the Super Bowl? That isn’t any worse than the other ads that use gratuitous sex and violence to sell their wares. Kudos to PETA for doing what everyone else is doing to get attention to what they have to say. I guess it’s okay for meat eaters to do it, but not vegetarians. LOVE the double-standard!!!!
Can’t proliferate the human species with a pumpkin, she’s gonna need some meat. (Crude, sorry, but couldn’t resist)
