Clip du jour: PETA gets its sexy on (and has its Super Bowl ad banned)

I chuckled when I read that NBC had banned a racy Super Bowl ad from PETA that trumpeted the merits of vegetables. How racy could it be? Turns out it was pretty racy — and a little gross. I’m all for getting in your recommended daily allowance of good veggies, but we shouldn’t have to wonder about your method of intake.

What do you think? Is this too racy for Super Bowl Sunday?

I’m all for animal’s rights, but God, do I HATE Peta!

Considering my daughter’s middle school and high school church youth group is having a Super Bowl party, I’d say it’s definitely too racy! I’m sure there will be other ads that are also objectionable, but hopefully not as bad as this one.

Eww. But wait – DO vegetarians have better sex???

  • Caleb

Yeah I think that’s pretty bad, I wouldn’t want my kids seeing that. Plus PETA is lame, I love meat and anyone who loves meat, hunting or wahtever should be free to do so and not have an orginization “speaking for the animals” tell them what’s right and wrong.

it’s not racy it’s the farthest thing from racy it looks stupid

At least it’s got a better message than that GoDaddy.com website commercial is bound to have. (And I’m a meatatarian!)

PETA is a media whore. Hey PETA! Stop wasting money on these ads and put it to good use by -*shock*- saving animals!

Oh good, another PETA ad using sexualized images of women to communicate their message. Seriously, ya gotta stop – I’m a vegetarian, but I despise all of PETA’s ad techniques.

I think this just took the record for highest concentration of pinch harmonics, bikinis, and tastelessness (in two regards) within thirty seconds. Beating out the rockers. Way to go peta.

    WTF??? This is just creepy

Yes, its too racy for Super BowlSsunday, but as a mom of a 9 year old boy that watches football every Sunday, it’s not that much worse than the trash normally on during a football game that I have to fast forward through.

Studies show… that pumpkins are fruits, not vegetables.
…And probably not as effective at improving your sex life if not orally ingested.

That’s rather interesting. I don’t recall that ad saying anything about hunting, your right to eat meat, OR animal rights. I seem to recall it being about vegetarians having better sex.
Being a vegetarian myself, I have never told anyone how they should eat or make ethical decisions, and though I do disagree with some of PETA’s method’s, they have every right to do what they do within the confines of the law, just as you have that exact same right.
I do feel that this ad is a little much, but if we’re going to go with those principles, why not pull every ad for every “shoot ‘em up” movie that might potentially play during the Super Bowl as well?

I was thinking the same thing PUMPKINS???

Watch the doc “I Am an Animal” about the birth of PETA and the lady who heads it up now. She will do anything for press and it kinda nuts. The “Go Naked” instead of fur was pretty brilliant, but this is just gross.
