I’m gonna say this right at the top: I’m not the world’s biggest Jonah Hex fan. Mostly because I’m not a huge Western fan — but if I was, I’d totally be down with following the comic-book adventures of a surly, scarred bounty hunter. And I will go see a Jonah Hex movie directed by Jimmy Hayward because Hayward’s last flick, Dr. Seuss’ Horton Hears a Who!, was a terrifically smart bit of filmmaking. And if Josh Brolin stays on as the title character? Sold.
How about you? Does the idea of a Jonah Hex movie get you itching for the saddle? What other mid-level comic book character would you like to see get the big-screen treatment?

I’d like to see a Cloak & Dagger TV Show. I think that’s the perfect storyline for a serialized drama…
I’ve never followed Jonah Hex all that closely either, but I’d definitely see a movie of him. He seems like a cool enough character from what little exposure I’ve had to him. Josh Brolin is great too. I’m glad Hollywood finally figured that out.
Nah. I’d rather see a “Human Target” movie.
As a kid I never spent even 12¢ on a Jonah Hex comic. Why would I be expected to spend $12 to see the movie?
Second string comics I’d like to see? Metal Men. Metamorpho. Dr Strange. Warlock. And I agree, Cloak & Dagger could tranform to a terrific movie.
A lot of the artwork had Hex modelled after Clint Eastwood. But after his performances in “No Country For Old Men” and “American Gangster”, I think Josh Brolin would make a very good Jonah Hex – as long as the script is up to snuff.

I’m a long-time Hex fan, having learned to read from some old “Weird Western Tales” I had back in the ’70s. The book’s latest incarnation is one of the best things on the racks right now, in my opinion. So, as you can imagine, I’m pretty excited about this film. I’m less excited, however, about Josh Brolin in the role of Hex. Nothing against his acting skills; he just doesn’t seem the right fit. However, there’s a picture floating around somewhere out there of Thomas Jane done up in full-on Hex mode; that’s a man I think would do justice to the role.
Cool. I thought of Josh Brolin too!
Arrgh. It’s Jonah Hex, not Hex.
Hex was the name of the short-lived, editorial driven comic series that transported J.H. to the future so he could shoot aliens and free the human race from some tyranny or another. I still get the willies when I think about “Hex”.
Comic movie–great! Western–great! Together—awesome!!!
I remember Jonah Hex from this one episode of Batman when I was a kid, where he tried to capture Ra’s al Ghul’s son. Just rewatched it, actually. I’ve never read any Jonah Hex comics, but I’d definitely see this movie. Go DC!
