Happy 2,000th comment, Jeremy Northam fans!

Jeremynortham_lThe unofficial Jeremy Northam message board created on PopWatch’s April 2007 item Jeremy Northam, why aren’t you a bigger star? is still going strong. They just posted their 2,000th comment.

I love Jeremy! I had no idea there was an ew.com board about him! he’s a great actor and definitely should be a higher profile star.

  • Jane

I love Jeremy Northam! Ever since Emma. How could you not just love Mr. Knightly?

  • Leigh

Hey, i love this actor too! Been watching him in the first two seasons of The Tudors.

  • RJ

I bet his mom is responsible for at least 1,500 of those posts.

I find it impressive that they racked up 1,000 posts in only a few months when the first 1,000 took well over a year.

  • Sister Suffragette

The sad thing is, the last third of what are now over 2,000 posts were mainly posted by a gaggle of lowlife scum who are ticked off that their own defamatory sites directed against Jeremy Northam and his family and friends were all shut down. No actor needs this type of so-called “publicity.” At this point, the folks at Popwatch are doing more harm than good, by providing an outlet for cruel and unstable people to spout their salacious agendas at Jeremy Northam’s expense. That’s nothing to crow about.

It’s true. This site has done more harm than good once the bottom feeders got tossed from their own idiotic sites. They chased away the fans over at the IMDB site. Now they wish to do the same over here.

Well, but for many, many months, and while “Tudors“ was hyped, the popwatch site was the only website available about JN that was not dominated by people trying to ruin his reputation. They had conquered IMDb, too with their mobbing strategies. And the popwatch site was listed high up in google and everywhere. So I think the popwatch site has done a lot of good, giving people who were just discovering JN some positive information and a place to share harmless talk. I am very glad that was the case.

The thing to do is not to bother to read anything that has obviously been posted by someone with serious mental health issues. There have been a lot of those, let’s face it, pitiable types of late on the JN blog. Most of what they post is below the quality of what you might expect to read scrawled on the walls of a public toilet. It’s a shame for them, but it’s really not worth the reading. Step around it as you would dog dirt on a path, and you will still find plenty of great information and some lovely people who genuinely admire this actor and the quality of his work. Jeremy Northam is a wonderful, wonderful actor, he lights up the screen, and long may he prosper.

You got that right: serious mental issues. But what you are wrong about: they are not going away anytime soon. Being snubbed on Popwatch is nothing to them.

  • Sister Suffragette

I do think that the Popwatch blog has been a very good place for Jeremy Northam fans to exchange thoughts and information, etc. However, I firmly believe that Popwatch should be on the alert that there are a band of troublemakers out there who aren’t going to go away quietly, because their tirades have been going on far too long. I am under the assumption that many of those associated with Popwatch may have ties to the industry. If that’s the case, then I would hope that a little more care would be taken with monitoring the comments of individuals who cannot differentiate right from wrong and oftentimes don’t even care. Jeremy Northam has long been one of my favorite actors, and I will continue to vist the Popwatch blog and overlook any rubbish that is posted. And I hope that Popwatch will remain vigilant, so that considerate posters won’t be chased away.

  • A True Fan

I haven’t visited here for a while but got a chuckle out of the comment about side stepping the “dog dirt”( AKA nasty posts).
Popwatch has become a wonderful Jeremy Northam site where fans can gather info and rave about this special actor.
“The nuts” can try, but they will not silence the true fans!

Sister Suffragette, good to see you. I agree that I wish Popwatch would keep an invigilating eye on some of the posts that are not only unpleasant but in many cases, defamatory, which is of course contrary to Powatch’s own terms and conditions. No point in having t&c if you don’t enforce them. Let’s hope Mandi is listening…

I agree. I complained a few times about posts that were defamatory or insulting, and there werre warnings, but they weren´t deleted. But the advantage of this site is that there are mods, and they could delete at least the ravings that are obviously crazy or libellous. Couldn´t they even be sued for hosting stuff like that? I hope they will keep their eyes open.

Celebrating it’s fifteenth year this January, Theatr Mwldan’s annual Film Festival kicks off this Friday (16th January). The diverse programme boasts 19 of the very best recent cinema releases the world has to offer, including Baz Luhrmann’s Australia. With gorgeously rich scenery and exciting imagery, Australia tells an epic yarn on a grand scale, and has been described as a cross between Out of Africa and Gone With the Wind.
