Happy 60th birthday, Donna Summer!

She may be the Queen of Disco, but what’s amazing about Donna Summer is while many of her songs are quintessential examples of that era, they have maintained a freshness that keeps them relevant in dance music even today (just ask Beyonce, who did her best Summer impersonation for the single "Naughty Girl," which is little more than a remake of the Queen’s "Love to Love You Baby"). Check out the clip below of Summer’s classic "I Feel Love" and see what I mean. Summer isn’t out of the game, either, of course — just last year she released her first album in 17 years, Crayons (clip for "Stomp Your Feet," her hit single off the record, after the jump). Happy 60th, Donna!

Donna Summer is easily one of the most recognized voices and talents in the music industry. I hope that with this comeback album of sorts that she will obtain much needed recognition for her gifted musical work.
Please induct her into the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame, Kennedy Center Honors, and Lifetime Achievement Award for Billboard Music and American Music Awards, respectively.
The Queen of Disco……is back and is very much the music industry’s legend who needs to given her true respect and honor in music.

I saw Donna in concert this summer at the Hollywood Bowl and she is amazing.
Her ‘Crayons’ CD is surprisingly strong. After Coldplay, its my favorite CD of 2008.

They all steal from Donna: Beyonce, Rhianna, Keyshia. And even Mariah. I doubt there will ever be another Donna Summer. And “I Feel Love” is 31 years old. (Why do I feel old as dirt? lol)

Incredibly powerful, and incredibly versatile. Donna is a legend for good reason. You rock Donna!

Donna Summer’s music lives on like NO ONE ELSE’s. Think of ANY other dance or disco song or artist during the 80′s or 90′s that is still revered or even remembered. There are good ones yes, but while she was the epitomy of disco, she is also timeless. I still here “Last Dance” very often at the end of the night when out clubbing….

Donna Summer IS music! Her voice is like no others! She is timeless perfection.

She is the best singer and she is still popular. Her last Cd, Crayons, reached only 44 in my country (Italy) because radios play others artists. But in Italy there is a lobby which decides the songs played on the radio
