Since I just watched the trailer for I Love You, Man about five times, I think I can safely say that it is on my Must List this week (and that the movie will be on my List come March 20). Paul Rudd plays a guy who has no guy friends, and, on his fiancée’s orders, sets out to find someone to be his best man. That ”man” is Jason Segel (I use the term loosely, because when does Segel ever play someone who’s matured past his early twenties). Though the film is without the almighty hand of Judd Apatow, it’s not completely untouched by his influence (writer/director John Hamburg is a pal). I Love You, Man looks like a blend of Apatow-esque man-boy humor with a touch of absurdity from The State/Stella and Ben Stiller schools of comedy (and it’s guaranteed to be at least 85% less douchey than Brody Jenner’s new MTV show, Bromance). It’s going to be awesome.

Looks ggod to me. I’ll go see it.
ahh the underated jason segal. guy is like the best thing on HIMYM and he was fantastic in Forgetting Sarah Marshal. Paul Rudd never seems to disappoint and anything with Judd Apatow seems to turn to gold ala. JJ Abrams. im really looking forward to this movie and i think tis gonan be great.
okay – so it looks really funny – but I sometimes have a difficult time getting over the obvious. Why wouldn’t he just ask his brother to be his best man?! anyone?!
Jason Segel in general
Just caught up with episodes from HIMYM…he is just awesome
1. Blu-Ray – New Christmas tradition. Watching Independence Day with surround sound on Blu-Ray. Absolutely amazing.
2. Shrek: The Musical – I normally stray away from the movie to stage musical, but this was was absolutely fantastic, especially Sutton Foster.
3. Frost/Nixon – Hate that it’s not getting the attention it deserves. It needs buzz to survive in the Academy Awards race, and it should get it. It’s a poignant historical drama that shouldn’t be missed for all movie buffs.
LittleBigPlanet for PS3- pure unadulterated sunshiney fun.
Fall Out Boy- Folie A Deux- Say what you will, the Boy is back in town and rocking harder than I can remember them.
Trailer for “9.” This animated sci-fi adventure looks AMAZING, can’t wait to see the finished product!
SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE is a must!!.. its one of the best movies of the year by far and deserves every award and nomination its been getting! (oh Doubt is amazing too!)
The BSG webisodes! They are a very tasty appetizer before Season 4.5.
I’m so glad you mentioned I Love You, Man! Being an avid Paul Rudd fan, I’ve also watched the trailer about half a dozen times. I can’t wait to watch it.
Sean Penn in Milk! Hello?! Other than that, been sadly out of pop culture of late.
1bruce1- A live journal community dedicated to recapping the awesomely bad Sweet Valley book series. As a life-long fan of the SVH series (and its numerous “spin offs”) I can fully appreciate the level of love/hate that goes into each recap. Perfect for anyone craving a bit of nostalgia dipped in snark.

-The new Terminator Salvation Trailer (If you haven’t seen it already)
-Papa Roach’s “Hollywood Whore” single. Hard rock done right.
-Videogames for Christmas. 2008 was a great year for gamers, and there’s tons of good titles out right now.
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button – You know it’s a good movie when you can forget Brad Pitt’s tabloid persona and actually enjoy his character.
Trailer: “9″ – loved the original short, and after seeing this trailer, I can’t WAIT for the movie!
TV: “Moral Orel” New Years marathon – nice to see [as] giving one of it’s best series a good send-off as the first thing they broadcast in the new year.
Upcoming TV: LOST! I can’t even effing wait for premier.
Michael Urie: After watching some UB dvds over the break, I’ve come to realize that this dude is probably the best part of the show. And totally underrated!
-Anthony Hamilton’s “The Point of it All”
-My Bloody Valentine trailer
-Friday Night Lights
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button-Whatever ridiculous tabloid attention he gets, Brad Pitt can actually act, surprisingly. Though it’s a long movie, it’s an beautiful tale to be told. And I basically sobbed through the last ten minutes. Maybe I’m just overly emotional. But it was pretty damn good.
And BTW “I Love You, Man” looks awesome. Its cast is basically every funny person I love and Paul Rudd is just way too adorable.
1. You Found Me by The Fray (finally back!)
2. Friday Night Lights (how is it possible that this show doesn’t get enough love?!)
3. LOST promos (see comment on number 1)
2666 by Roberto Bolano-
A beautiful book from an author who will truly be missed.
Lost Season 4 on DVD- Got it for Christmas and immediately had to watch “The Constant”. A Brilliant episode and a brilliant season.
The Wordy Shipmate- Puritans never seemed so funny.

Gran Torino
1. Jimmy Smits in Dexter. It’s about time someone could be up to par with Michael C. Hall in this amazing show, and his final scene with Dex was one of the best moments on TV this season.
2. Adele’s 19. Her four grammy nods are hopefully just the beginning. I thought it was a beautiful CD, especially her cover of Bob Dylan’s “Make You Feel My Love”.
3. The City. So I’m not really planning on watching it, but anything on MTV that doesn’t showcase Speidi is good in my book.
Definitely the trailer for My Bloody Valentine!!!
All things Bryan Fuller:
1. Pushing Daisies – trying to get my fix before it’s gone.
2. Wonderfalls – a very cute show that I just discovered and fell in love with.
3. Dead Like Me – snarky, beautiful and just plain fun.
OMG – Have you SEEN the “My Bloody Valentine” trailer? I can’t even remember the last time I saw a horror/slasher type movie in a theater (I usually watch them on DVD) .. but I am so THERE come January 16th!!!
- How I Met Your Mother: I got the DVDs for Christmas and I cannot stop watching!
- Bones and Booth and the idea that someday they may actually kiss sans mistletoe
- Netflix instant view and its new ability to be viewed on Macs. Praise the PopCulture Dieties!
1) Lady Gaga- too much fun to be corny
2) The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
3) I love you, man is definitely on my list. I’ve watched the trailer several times. I love Jason Segel and Paul Rudd.
Lily Allen’s cover of “Womanizer”.
SingStar – the karaoke video game on Playstation.
Taraji P. Henson’s touchingly tender supporting role as Queenie in “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”.
1. Slumdog Millionaire! Definitely my new favorite movie
2. West Wing reruns on Bravo
3. Cobra Starship, and their new Kiss My Sass video
“It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” seasons 1-3 on DVD & season 4 on fx.com. The Nightman Cometh= hysterical and amazing.
1. Watchmen-In the midst of all this controversy surrounding the movie, I’m discovering the graphic novel for the first time and absolutely loving it. It’s not just great as a comic; it’s one of the finest novels I’ve ever read.
2. WALL-E Soundtrack-If Thomas Newman isn’t nominated for an Oscar, I’ll be sick. His beautiful, soaring orchestrations coupled with the likes of Michael Crawford and Louis Armstrong (doing Edith Piaf, to boot) are portals to somewhere magical.
3. Fantastic Contraption (www.fantasticcontraption.com)- One of the most addictive games on the internet. The freedom that defines the gameplay means ten different players could beat a level ten different ways. In other words: infinite replay value.
