what no scrooge movies this year? I always enjoy re-watching the Susan Lucci and Vanessa Williams entries every year.
I thought the made for Lifetime movie “The Christmas Shoes” based on the sappy song might make this list. Sick mom, son desperate to get her a very special Xmas gift before she meets Jesus
I feel I must add my two cents to Made for TV Holiday Movies…While my favorite is not a Holiday movie, it is a holiday episode. It is Touched By An Angel where Wynonna plays a single mom whose young child Petey is dying. He makes a bucket list and with the help of his friend, the angels, and one French chanteuse formerly of Las Vegas, completes it. The last thing on that list was his mother finishing a song. A sing she sings as Petey takes his last breath and Andrew, the angel of death, takes him home. That episode makes me tear up EVERY time.
If we’re making confessions, I have to say I seek out Comfort & Joy with Nancy McKeon every year on Lifetime.
Ha! One of my professors directed Comfort & Joy…
Flirting with Forty is still on my DVR. I did watch some of Lifetime’s marathon of movies on Sunday and caught An Undercover Christmas, Special Delivery and A Christmas Wish. They were all older movies, but still fun.
I really enjoyed Snow 2: Brain Freeze because I love Tom Cavanaugh. As for the others, eh. None caught my interest.
What about for 2008 the movie Christmas Town? It was on ION and you did not list it as part of your movies. Granted it was a horrible movie despite having Patrick Muldoon (who was in A Boyfriend for Christmas – a good holiday movie – a few years ago). Just should have made your list. Also you missed A Christmas Proposal with Nicole Eggert. It was her second year in a row with a holiday movie (last year was Holiday Switch). I tried to watch the new one this year but hated the lead guy who seemed like he was channeling Patrick Dempsey but was so cheesy.
Please somone I am trying to find out the name of the song that played in the movie on Lifetime this week in the movie “christmas proposal”. I am sixty one and when I die I would like that song to be sung at my funeral. Time is running short for me, please let me know so I can make arrangements. Thankyou and God bless.
out of all the new ones so far the best one to me is ‘the most wonderful time of the year’ but i haven’t gotten around to ‘snow 2′ yet. i tried watching ‘a christmas proposal’,'very merry daughter of the bride’ and moonlight and mistletoe’ but they bored me. i also watched ‘special delivery’ and ‘undercover christmas’ and thought they were pretty darn good. the rest of this year’s movies look like schleck but really only one or two each year are worth the time and the film.
As someone who enjoyed both Snow and Snow 2: Brain Freeze….can someone explain why Ashley Williams isn’t a bigger star? Great on HIMYM, beautiful, funny, girl-next-door charm….seriously, she needs a great career. (I’m still secretly rooting for her to be the mother…)
I thought “our first Christmas” was a real classic. Loved the product placements, especially the “kay jewelers” engagement ring scene. Cliff was miscast and the kids were slightly weird. “A Christmas Proposal” was hard to follow. I do love the genre, thanks for documenting it.
“The Christmas Proposal” was not only totally predictable, but someone definitely missed the boat on authenticity in choosing the location. The location was supposed to be a ski area in New England the end of December. Who told the producers/directors that there are summer flowers and shrubs, and full foliage on the trees? The viewer should not be asked to stretch their imagination that far.
