Clip du Jour: Is gramps cheating, squinting at a cue card, or simply brilliant?

In any case, Drew Carey should be fired for his pitiful non-reaction to TOTAL GUESTIMATION DOMINATION.

Big ups to Best Week Ever for watching The Price is Right every day in their office!

I heard Bob Barker shot himelf so he could roll over in his grave. I like Drew but come on.

  • Karen

It’s as though Drew Carey has been warned by his bosses that he’ll lose his job if anyone EVER guesses correctly to the dollar. :)

  • Laura

Maybe the producers told Drew it was coming before the big reveal on air, which is why he didn’t act surprised. Or perhaps there was an investigation before or after the announcement on air as to why the Hell this man magically came up with the right answer (and the other contestant was super close as well!). Either way, the whole thing seems fishy.

    That’s unbelievable if it’s legit.

  • CG

Wow. I don’t watch the show but if that is how he is, how can the show survive. It is like torture to watch him.

  • aps

That is unbelievable. maybe too unbelievable.
but drew’s reaction was horrendous. it’s not even a speechless “wow” type thing where he jsut has to continue his normal spiel in awe. there is zero emotion at all. very weird.

TMZ said that Drew knew beforehand and he talked with the producers about it for 30 minutes before continuing.

  • mscisluv

I call shenanigans on this sh*t. No way he could have guessed that exactly right without blinking an eye. And the “non-reaction” from Drew does seem like he was forewarned about something…

Here it is from the Best Week Ever comments: There’s a reason Drew is so blase: Standards & Practices thought something was up. There was a 45 minute stop down between the showcases & the reveal (usually, its 10-15 minutes) while S&P investigated.
A rabid fan of the show was in the audience giving this contestant the prices. Having seen this particular showcases & its prizes many times before, this fan gave the contestant the exact bid through hand signals.
Drew was probably pissed off because this is not the first time such an incident has happened involving fans from the same fansite; he knew this particular contestant didn’t make this bid on his own. During the Million Dollar Spectaculars last season, another rabid fan of the show (who is also a member of the same fansite) cost CBS $2m through the same shenanigans; he has been forever BANNED from the Bob Barker Studio. I suspect the same thing has happened to this particular fan.

I can understand Drew reacting this way based on the fact that something fishy was definitely going on… however, anybody who has seen his normal acting on this show knows that this is not a whole lot different. I used to like the Drew Carey show, but here, he’s just a shmuck.

Now I’m like, well duh! Truly thnkaufl for your help.

  • t3hdow

I think mscisluv is onto something. Drew’s apathetic reaction is extremely unnatural for something this exceptional. I’m sure the producers wouldn’t have clue’d him in on the historical moment, so he could at least give a believable reaction. Something’s up for sure.
Don’t believe me? Watch this clip, which shows another recent lucky contestant run through The Price is Right.

Drew’s frenetic behavior from Taylor’s incredible comeback only makes this moment weirder. If Drew was this excited for Taylor, there’s no way Drew would’ve intentionally buzzkilled this moment, unless there was a very good reason for doing so.

bad acting by both the winner and Drew — something is def fishy! And the poor woman who lost – after having come soooo close!!!

  • JKK

If people can figure out the prices of the showcases just by watching every day, maybe what they should do is CHANGE THE SHOWCASES. Then this wouldn’t happen. If the “fan in the audience knew the answer” theory is correct, then the producers should be fired.

I saw somewhere on the internet- might have been primtime in no time- that this was edited- that they actually stopped the show for almost a half hour and discussed his guess. So the reaction you are seeing is quite a while after they found out.

    • Kamberley

A good many valluabes you’ve given me.

Megan was right- it was TMZ and it is on their site- Drews reaction is edited in after a half hour of discussion with the producers.
