It’s a shame that EW has already closed its Best and Worst of 2008 issue, which hits stands Friday and includes our picks for the year’s Great Performances, because Britney Spears’ caroling excursion with Ellen DeGeneres might’ve earned a spot on that list — for Spears’ publicist. Great move. Catch B & E’s two-part adventure on The Ellen DeGeneres Show‘s website.
Is this the best holiday stunt you’ve seen on a talk show so far this season? (Translation: What else have I missed?)

What’s on your Must List?

yeah, it was fun. but i couldn’t help but notice britney isn’t that good with normal people.
Am I the only one who just doesn’t understand the appeal of Ellen DeGeneres? The woman is simply not funny. I feel so embarrassed for her when she’s on her awful show. Between the horrible dancing sequences (shudder) and her attempt to rip off Bob Newhart’s comedic style, the woman just fails on all levels. HOw is this woman popular? I think the old saying is true, the masses are asses.
Yes, you are the only one.
I thought it was reallly cute and ellen is just hysterical. Britney totally played along and acted like a goof ball, especially at the end with the rapping. I really enjoyed it. Go BRITNEY!!
I thought this was hilarious (and I do find Ellen very entertaining, Jeff W)! And yes, I too have noticed that Britney has trouble interacting with “normal” people. She just doesn’t know what to say to someone if she isn’t being interviewed. But can you blame her? Has she even interacted with non-celebrities for the last 10-15 years?
Britney is a sorry excuse for a human. Please go away, far, far away.
I recently came across your blog and have been reading along. I thought I would leave my first comment. I don’t know what to say except that I have enjoyed reading. Nice blog. I will keep visiting this blog very often.

Great concept. But it actually wasn’t that funny. The producers didn’t get very funny people to be the people that Britney & Ellen knocked on their door. They were dull. They shouldn’t have planted the people and instead made it spontaneous. With these types of pieces, half the fun is watching the people’s faces as they slowly realize its _________ celebrity standing at their door.
Ellen did her best, but this could have been so much better than it was.
Britney Spears really looks good.

i thought it was funny and all (and Ellen is very funny Jeff W.)but LA they should have chosen some random city as people in LA are so used to seeing celebs we need to see surprised people.
well, they did it in L.A. because that’s where the show is. and where britney and ellen live. they weren’t gonna go on location for this. and i don’t think surprise was even the point, it was just to be funny.
and the arod person down below, go f*ck yourself please.
Its fun to see Britney’s goofy side, kind of makes me believe there’s still some part of her that hasn’t been completely ruined considering everything she’s gone through.
Yes, Jeff, you are indeed the only one. Ellen is not only very funny, she’s also kind with her humor, unlike so many celebrity “comedians”. She makes it impossible for us to feel anything but love for her. She is a truly beautiful person – a sparkling gem in the trash heap that is Hollywood – and I feel badly for you that you’re somehow unable to see that.
That was awesome. So much fun.
Leave it to Ellen to be able to pull off what many others (MTV, Russell Brand, Good Morning America etc) have tried and failed to do over the last couple years…making Britney come off as relaxed, funny , confident and easy to relate to. Maybe Britney should replace Madonna with Ellen because, for the first time in a long time, I enjoyed Britney outside of a music video. Kudos to both of them.
