On this morning’s Today, Tom Cruise apologized to Matt Lauer for coming across as "arrogant" during his cringe-y interview about antidepressants…in 2005! Am I the only one who can’t believe that mess happened over three years ago? Seems like a few months ago! I guess I’ve really made it last!

he looks a lot better than he has in recent years…. he’s doing good movies, was the best part of the great movie tropic thunder, and i think he’s a good actor overall…
i’m rooting for his comeback!
I was thinking the same thing — 3 years ago!!!! Dang! It seemed like last year!! Good for Cruise & Lauer for being good sports.
Annie, this would’ve been the perfect chance for an “Arrested Development” reference:
Lucille: Well, apparently, mood-altering medication leads to street drugs. That’s what this very handsome, young doctor said on The Today Show.
Michael: That was Tom Cruise, the actor.
Lucille: They said he was some kind of scientist.
Amen Anthony. The haters will come out in droves i’m sure, but I still root for him.
Does anybody even care about Tom Cruise anymore? It seems like yesterday that he was attacking Lauer and yet I still don’t care.
I know…i had the same reaction. 3 years ago! Time sure flies… but for some reason Tom Cruise has staying power. I dont get it…i just wish he would come out of the closet already! then maybe ill have some respect for him and like him as an actor. Regardless of how i feel, he had to feel pretty stupid having to apologize for being crazy! 3 years ago!
I never gave into the media sensationalism of Tom, Britney and the others. I enjoy their work… (or not) but i could give a rats behind about their personal lives. I have my own to care about theirs. Let them entertain me, that’s all that matters.
I’m hoping Valkyrie will be good, though Cruise’s lack of a German accent and the fact the movie’s in english might take away from the authenticity quite a bit, but the talent involved can’t be denied, so I hope for the best.
Oh, and no I don’t care what a celebrity does with his or her private life, as long the put out a good product that I can enjoy. Cruise has done the right thing through those tough times by continuing to work and putting the focus on his films, not his life. Maybe if a guy like Michael Jackson were to put out another album, some of his little things would be forgotten as well.
I love how even tom cruise can illect an Arrested Development Reference
Good job to both Matt and Tom for putting this behind them.
How many megastars step up and eat a little humble pie? You’ve got to admire it.
Can’t wait to see Valkerie. The trailers look great!
The reason Cruise’s insanity from 2005 still seems relevant is that the man hasn’t stopped acting crazy since then. I won’t go into the last three years, but let’s talk Valkyrie.
Unless you think greenlighting, then opting to star in a movie that is sympathetic to the NAZIS (with an Xmas release no less) is something a sane person would do, we must brand Mr. Cruise as “crazy”. Maybe not “couch jumping” crazy, but instead “exempting Das Boot, movies sympathetic to the Nazis have always been financial and critical bombs but I’m sure my Nazi sympathizing movie is going to be a hit because I’m wearing an eye patch in it” crazy.
That’s pretty crazy if you ask me.
Not that it’s a big deal, but the word he says at about 4:32, “prothetizing,” is not a real word… maybe he meant proselytizing, but I can’t tell what the word was he actually looking for.
Cruise is just trying to make himself more likable before his movie release. Just a calculated attempt to make us forget the crazy so he can get back to being a “beloved” actor. I say we reject this blatant PR campaign.
I’m with you, Mary. Tom Cruise is about as sincere as Bozo the Clown. “Oooh, I might have come across as arrogant.” Yeah, you dumb sh*t, you sure did, and you’re shorter than everyone gathered at that Today Show taping, and I wish to God someone had asked him when the Mother Ship is coming to take him away!
