Jennifer Aniston's 'GQ' cover: How do you not love this woman?

Anistongqcover_l_2 Okay, at the risk of exposing myself as a pervy old man, I have to say that the cover of the January issue of GQ (hits stands Dec. 23) has tipped it in for me: I love Jennifer Aniston. There. I said it. Feels good to get it out. You see, I was one of those snobby jerk-offs in the ’90s who (rather vocally) HATED Friends and endlessly griped about how corny it is and how annoying the characters are (arguments I would still make today, but I recognize that it’s a too-cool-for-school reaction to its formulaic sitcomery). But while Aniston will never be fully extricated from her association with Ross, Chandler, "Pheebs," and the gang, over the past decade or so she’s certainly built enough of a post-Friends persona for me to step forth and pledge my love. Here are the Top 5 reasons I love Jennifer Aniston, despite hating Friends, that do NOT have to do with the fact that I enjoy seeing her naked:

1. Office Space (natch)
2. Her reasoned response to the career-over-baby accusations that had people running around with "I’ll have your baby, Brad!" t-shirts during her divorce to Brad Pitt. "A man divorcing would never be accused of choosing career over children….That really pissed me off. I’ve never in my life said I didn’t want to have children," she told Vanity Fair in 2005.
3. Her dig this year at Angelina Jolie, who had publicly talked about falling for Pitt while he was still married to Aniston. "That stuff about how she couldn’t wait to get to work every day [while filming Mr. & Mrs. Smith]? That was really uncool," she told Vogue.
4. She’s got a thing for rock-n-roll dudes — first Adam Duritz, and now John Mayer (who’s eight years her junior, I might add, which I think is kinda hot…for some reason. I know, I know, pervy old man).
5. The Good Girl, when I first realized there was more to Aniston than "Rach."

Honorable mention: Her hilarious appearance on 30 Rock earlier this year (the episode after the jump).

Anyone else out there overcome their dislike for Friends and fall for Aniston anyway? And how about that GQ cover, eh? Anyone out there realizing they dislike me because I hated on Friends just now?

Wasn’t it Courtney Cox who dated Adam Duritz?

  • Anonymous

Nope – still dislike her. Overrated actress

  • Nix

No, that’s not the reason I dislike you. Mind you, straight men I instantly dislike are usually the ones I end up falling madly in love with, so be warned. And it’s “Pheebs”. Snob.

  • PeterBilt The Nature Boy

I think they were both with Duritz. Anywho, she is looking damn good, she has a good personality it seems and she hasnt made too many crappy things. So good for her.

Jen whines about Angelina four years later and you think it’s a reason to like her? Angelina’s comment was as tame as it could possibly be – she didn’t talk about their burgeoning love life, or their sexual adventures – and Jen is ‘oh so hurt.’ It’s amusing that 30 Rock made fun of this image of ‘obsessed crazy Jen’; Jen should get over it already.

If there was ever an over rated talent it is Jolie. She is absolutely unwatchable in my opinion. Let alone her habit for choosing lame tough girl roles. She may be the most beautiful woman in the world (depending on the photo shoot), but she is an awful actress. I guess she fits just right with the Robert Redford of our time, Pitt. The two of them together can’t act their way out of a paper bag. Besides Jennifer may not be the most beautiful, or the most gifted actress, but she is at the top of my list of sexiest women that ever lived, and she is heads and shoulders above the Pitt Jolie crew in ability, part selection and humility.

I don’t hate you but I think you’re a little nuts! And to answer the question both Courteney and Jen dated Adam. Jennifer also mentioned that her one freebie while married to Brad would be with Steven Tyler, obviously also a rocker.

Thu, contrary to what you think, I do think she’s an underrated actress. Her personal life has overshadowed her work, I do think that she has some talent- I was quite blown away by her beautiful performance in ‘The Good Girl’
I think she just needs to get out of her comfort zone and do more roles like hers in ‘The Good Girl’ to fully establish herself as a good actress.

I cannot understand why EW gives such a large amount of press to a minimally talented actor who blames the tabloids for persecuting her, yet uses every opportunity she gets to dwell on a marriage and a relationship that has been over for years. She’s had more than her share of attention; it’s time to move on.

I love Jennifer Aniston!! I do love Friends!! the best comedy ever!
I prefer Jenn than Angelina, she’s my kind of lady. Angelina? it seems everybody forgot how she used to be and now everybody is calling her a Saint…please! Angie sucks!
    Good body Jennifer!!

  • Snarf

The big question is…Are those real?

  • coco

oh, so she’s naked on the cover of GQ and now everybody loves her! LAME!
I think she is OK, but common, this publicity stunt to get duded to watch Marley and Me is an old trick.
I annoys me that women feel the need to expos their naked bodies to get attention. She should be promoting her acting not her tits!

  • SFV

    Photoshop works wonders.

  • Sadie

She has an amazing body and great hair, but that’s not enough to make me like her. I’m the lone woman in my office who didn’t (and doesn’t) feel any sympathy about the Jolie thing. Move on already, and quit talking about it in the press. If they ask (which I know journalists will), she should just give a non-commital answer that doesn’t serve as gossip fodder for weeks afterward. And she’s not that great of an actress — she’s like the female Ben Stiller, just playing subtle variations on the same theme.

  • eel8

I’m sorry, this is not related to this at all, but am I the only one who finds it weird that EW has nothing posted about the Golden Globe noms that come out this morning?

  • Sadie

Funny that the St. Jude ad featuring Aniston just popped up on this page — that’s part of what I don’t like about her; she acts like she doesn’t even want to touch that poor little girl in the TV ads.

  • Jen

I don’t think she acts like that at all. For all you know that little girl could be in pain and Jennifer was told not squeeze her hard. Geez.

  • MAC

I like her a lot…but do not think this looks like her at all on the cover. Her face looks totally different!

  • BillyBob Courtin

    I’d hit it, just sayin,,,
Angi is gonna respond but her bony ass cant match Jens tata’s

  • To Mike

Angelina’s made several digs over the years, which were blown out of proportion by the tabloids. It’s ok for Jen to finally say it was “uncool” for Angie to say everything she has. Especially the part about “I’d never date a married man” while then going on to do so. I think all things considered, Jennifer has displayed more class than others. She also hasn’t been the one who made deals with varying magazines and news outlets to highlight her charity efforts like someone else has. Lighten up.

  • Jennifer Fan

I disagree. She is warm and gentle in the St. Jude’s advertisement. What I don’t understand is why pose nearly nude for a cover of a magazine that isn’t known for porn? When can we equate the thread count to the level of self-esteem?

  • Sophia

I think a lot of that is photoshop. And I do agree, that she needs to get over the Brad/Jolie thing. You cannot break up something that was already broken. Move on, get over it. Get freaky in bed now and then and MAYBE things will change for you.

  • E

    HaHaHa Ha!
That video was fuuunnnyy! Jenifer Aniston is a great actress. I think I’m going to start watching 30 Rock

  • Cece

    It’s GQ, not GW

  • Shawn

That cover is SOOOOO photoshopped and she looks so self-conscious and stiff. I’m kinda embarrassed for her. (Is is me or does she look like Ashlee Simpson – maybe they go to the same cosmetic surgeon).
And while we’re making comparisons, Angelina is so much prettier, inside and out.

    • Ann

Wake up, she’s a husband stealing homewrecker and she is not that pretty…yuck…and a bad actress except in Girl Interrupted…there’s a reason why she’s been divorced 3 times, not just 1 like Jen….can you say weirdo and B@#$ch?

  • Jp

I love her, and I still love Friends. And Office Space. And The Good Girl. I even loved The Break-Up!

  • E

I think that all of the people who give Angie big ups on stealing someone else’s husband are cheaters themselves! Yeah, it’s been years but Jen isn’t initialing talk about the senario. Angelina said something that was inappropriate (let alone actions) and Jen FINALLY responded to them. It could be ten years from now. Feelings are feelings. Maybe it had to take this long to get the nerve up to publically talk about it.
    Stop being so darn emotionless!

  • bob

My wife looks just like her and I don’t like her.

  • Anonymous

    boobs were def photo shopped.
but I love friends. still makes me laugh.

  • The Big E

Ok, she is HOT, but I agree with another post – that face on the cover (and in some of the other pix in GQ) do not look like her at all. I guess I am used to seeing her with that big “puss” on her face. She always has a look about her like she is miserable. If I was Brad Pitt’s shoes, I think I could see why he left her, even though I think Aniston physically “hotter” than Jolie, Jolie has a better personality and genuine persona about her. Aniston comes of as a big fake and many people I know say the same…
