'Dead Like Me' straight-to-DVD movie: Psyched, scared, or both?

I was totally stoked to see that two years after the quirky Showtime series ended, Dead Like Me will be back with a straight-to-DVD movie on Feb. 17 that features most of the stars: Ellen Muth, Cynthia Stevenson, Jasmine Guy, and Calum Blue. The one name glaringly missing from the Dead Like Me: Life After Death roster is Mandy Patinkin’s Rube, the leader of that motley crew of soul-catching undeads. I was a little worried about the loss of Patinkin’s dry-as-a-bone deadpan humor. It seemed like that quality was so essential for the others to play off of, but it is promising to see that Lost‘s Henry Ian Cusick will play the new, less-upstanding, boss, which should add a new dynamic. (And to get  your Rube fix, the nine-disc Complete Collection: Soul Collectors’ series DVD will go on sale the same day.) Take a look at the latest trailer and tell me if you’re excited, too, or if you think it should have stayed buried.

Looks like Ellen Muth got some serious lip injections. They are huge! Probably better that it is going straight to dvd, because it would have tanked at the theater.

It also looks like a different actress playing Daisy Adair. I don’t think that’s Laura Harris, even though she is listed at imdb as being in the movie.

Ew, Ellen Muth is looking really anorexic when they zoom out at the end and show her full body. And I agree that it doesn’t look like the same actress playing Daisy. Don’t have high hopes for this, but I’ll probably watch it the first day it’s released.

So happy to see Dead like me come back albeit in a straight to dvd movie and even better to see Callum Blue return to the screen after seeing him in Secret diary of a call girl.

It definitely isn’t Laura Harris playing Daisy, it’s actually the actress who played her sister on 24.

Just glad to see someone is doing something with the great series which just disappeared with out giving us answers.

I enjoyed this show, and it gives me great hope that Bryan Fuller and Rob Thomas will watch these DVD sales and we might just get a Wonderfalls (wouldn’t it be great to know that Lee Pace will definitely have something to do, though people might be uncomfortable with him as the dark, theologian doctorate candidate brother, though I suspected he would be the one in on the action soon) or the Veronica Mars movies. But Rube was annoying me, he was getting a little self righteous and if I remember correctly (been awhile) I think Rube was really feeling that it was getting near time for him to pass over

What is up with Muth’s Mouth?
    Please, honey, eat a sandwich.

Those lips are like Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade Floats! Yikes. However, I def would revisit that series and see what they do with it.

My word! What big lips you have!

I am excited about this I just hope that even though Rube isn’t in the movie they explain his backstory. There was that wanted poster with his face on it when he was going through the records. So, I hope we find out who he actually was. Also I want Angelo in the movie as Mrs. Lass’s beau, and also Grandma Lass. I miss these characters so much.

Really excited about the movie. Yet another show that should never have been cancelled. Hopefully they’ll be able to bring back the feeling of it with the movie and we can get some kind of closure with the characters.

    I’m so excited ! And I just can’t hide it !
I hope the other french fans too.
Come on guys, sing with me !

that was a SUPER cheesy trailer.. and georgia was giving lisa rinna a run for her money with those lips. I don’t think it’ll be the same without rube, or the original daisy, but i’ll probably watch just the same.
