The home video versions of The Dark Knight go on sale today: a perfect reason to read this revealing Q+A with director Christopher Nolan in which he discusses Batman’s interrogation of the Joker — the scene he feels is "the fulcrum on which the whole movie turns." Some good stuff here, I especially appreciated the sense of unease created by the tight close-ups of Heath Ledger’s face drifting in and out of focus (a bit of clever camera work in an essentially FX-free sequence). I’m sure you have your own favorite scenes from the movie — let’s see them! And, because I’m curious: Who’s buying the movie on Blu-Ray?

I am buying it on Blu Ray, hopefully I can get the Bat Pod Limited Edition. If not the two disc should be fine.
I’m watching the Blu-Ray right now
But my favorite scene is a very small scene, post blowing up the police station, there is a shot of the Joker leaning his head out of the window and smiling. He is the only one smiling at this point in the movie as Rachel is dead and the city is crumbling. It shows perfect characterization with no dialogue.
I think the better question is who *isn’t* buying it on Blu-Ray? The interrogation scene is ama – wait for it – zing. But, for whatever reason, I particularly enjoy the scene when the Joker confronts the mob bosses for the first time. Or maybe it’s when the Joker is dressed as the Nurse and comes brokenly walking out of the hospital. Or maybe it’s when the Joker tells Rachel how he got his scars (or one version of the story, anyway). Okay, how can I choose? Pretty much any scene the Joker is in is effing brilliant.
No Blue Ray here, considering I don’t have a Blue Ray player. One day.
My favorite scene: “I think we may be destined to do this forever.” Fangirl overdrive, right there.
didn’t see it so i wont be buying it
also i dont get why its being re-released in theatres..of all the comic-book/action movies its obvious, from what ive heard, this wont have any trouble being nominated for an oscar or two
I’m sooo buying it on Bluray then watching it on my new LCD that’s being delivered this week! Perfect movie to start off my Blueray obsession..I’m sure!
The interrogation scene is the best scene in the best movie of the year. I am going to sound exactly like Christopher Nolan here, but that is where things change. Batman must confront everything he believes in. The Joker puts the stamp on his control over the minds of everyone in the city. Amazing scene.
Going to Best Buy after I get off work to pick it up. It won’t leave my PS3 for days. Maybe weeks.
Sorry to put this in such a random place, but where is Aubry’s Bits and Bobs column this week?
I have several favorite scene including the one where he is walking away from the hospital dressed as a nurse.
Another is actually the opening sequence when the goons are robbing the bank and one by one they reveal that they are undre special instructions to kill off thier partner.
It immediatly puts you in the right mind-frame for the movie and off the bat you get a feel for the joker and just how decieving of a person he is.
I will be getting it on blu ray also. Fav scene is anything with the joker and two face holding Gordon’s family hostage
I downloaded it about 3 months ago. It was great in theaters, great on my iPod 3 months ago, and it is great now on Blue Ray. You can download the Blue Ray version and all the bonus material, excellent.
I went to Best Buy at lunch today and bought the BluRay version. I can’t wait to go home and watch it!
I’m not buying it on Blu-Ray, because I don’t have a Blu-Ray player. I am going to buy the dvd tomorrow, though. I freaking love this movie, mainly because of the Joker.
I have to say this, sorry: I think this film is sooo overrated. The action scenes are fantastic, but the narrative is awful. It feels like giant set pieces were shoed-into a flimsy plot. The whole boat thing is superfluous and I wish the movie had finished half an hour earlier. The first film is far better, narratively speaking, though it has less fireworks than the second. I’m yet to be convinced that these are Batman movies made as well as they can be. For my money, C. Nolan is too concerned with the film as a spectacle to be looked at (hence the gargantuan action sequences, and the casting of people such as Michael Caine -a terrible actor – as Alfred). The film would have been far better served with a rawer feel, lesser known actors and without the hysterionics of the late Ledger, who overacts and hams it up. It’s not oscar worthy. Remember, just because Ledger’s unrecognisable when he plays the joker, it doesn’t mean it’s a great performance.
thank you so much for sharing that interview! it was wonderful. i am a huge fan of chris nolan. I do hope they include the “head kicking” scene as part of the bonus footage. would love to see it, sounds hilarious.
There are so many great Joker scenes but i am partial to when he is shooting at the cop car from the moving train. His grim determination mixed with the puppeteer like movements of his body is mesmerizing.
I do really like that scene. I don’t know which is my favorite, though. I won’t be buying the Blu-Ray as I don’t own an HD TV or a Blu-Ray player. I won’t be investing in these things until they way lower their prices. I did buy the DVD today, though; and right now, that’s good enough for me.
I am buying the blu-ray edition. My fav scene is the interrogation scene. It is the first time Batman came face to face with insane evil and someone he can’t scare. This movie is beyond any superhero movie, it is much deeper than that.
I love love love Christian Bale, but I cringe every time he speaks as Batman. Just the worst!
blu-ray! fav scene? probably when the joker mouths “six” after he asks the police officer how many of his fellow officers have been killed.
