Thanksgiving Weekend TV Marathon: 'Beverly Hills, 90210: Kelly's Leftovers'

SoapNet: Friday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Why you should gobble up 12 hours of the SoCal, so-cool crew: Thanksgiving may be all about family, but let’s be honest: You’re gonna want to escape crazy Aunt Sally and her lace-up leather skinnies at some point. So why not take a trip to one of the most escapist places on earth — the ridiculous, teen-tastic (and then 20-something-tastic) world created in Beverly Hills, 90210. And even better: The marathon is so aptly, Thanksgivingly themed as "Kelly’s Leftovers," so it’s a veritable buffet of the men — Dylan, Brandon, Steve, and Matt are featured — that Jennie Garth’s character loved (and left) over the years. Mmmm, now that’s some tasty meat.

Must-see episode: "Back in the High Life Again" (1 p.m.), an early season 3 staple, is where all the delicious Brenda/Kelly drama truly began. During a brisk walk in the park, new couple Dylan and Kelly finally reveal to a brooding, kicked-to-the-curb Brenda (who’s wearing a bad-ass black leather vest and black leather jacket combo) that they’re a couple. And they hooked up when she was in Paris over the summer. (You can catch that penultimate episode, "Shooting Star/American in Paris," at 12 p.m.!) "Look, I hate you both!" screamed Brenda after they dropped the bombshell on her. "Never talk to me again!" Cue the sad, sad music. Check out the dramatic scene here:

How about you, PopWatchers? Planning on a Turkey Day ass plant courtesy of Beverly Hills, 90210? Which Kelly Taylor-centric episode is your favorite? And come on back after you wolf down a few hours and share any thoughts/dreams/new observations you may may have stumbled upon during your TV gluttony.

I’d never miss a Kelly-Brenda fight! I’ll be there! =) As far as which Kelly Taylor episode is my favorite – that is a tough one. While Kelly had many “leftover” men in her life, she also had many insane trials and tribulations. Being burned in a fire, joining a cult, becoming a coke addict b/c of boyfriend and Daddy issues, getting shot and the resulting amnesia, etc.. the list goes on. I think my favorite has to be where Tara went all “single white female” and chopped and dyed her hair to look like Kelly’s, started wearing cardigans, and tried to murder-suicide the two of them in a car overlooking a Beverly Hills cliff vis-a-vis carbon monoxide poisoning, only to be rescued in the last minute. Love that Kelly Taylor!

Oh my, that fashion is horrid, lol! Except for what Brenda is wearing, that could actually still pass in some circles today! Got to love 90210: The Early Years, complete with those Brenda tantrums and that pre-emo Dylan grimace. Say what you will, but Kelly Taylor grew a lot in a decade, and so did Jennie Garth’s acting abilities, thankfully.

S3 was THE BEST 90210 season ever!!!!! Amazing from beginning to end! Mainly BECAUSE of all the Kelly/Brenda drama.

I have issues with 90210. Scarring childhood memories. Mr. Fogerty loved that show…

I LOVED the episode where Kelly got shot! She deserved it. She stole Brenda’s man. I can’t believe I actually liked when Kelly and Dylan first hooked up. Brenda stuck by Dylan no matter what. Kelly always whined and complain and ran to Brandon or whomever when her and Dylan weren’t getting along. That whole “I choose me” crap she did to Brandon and Dylan showed what kind of woman she was because in the next episode she was still thinking her and Brandon were going to date like nothing happened. Glad Brandon set her straight and didn’t marry the crazy witch. So glad Brenda slept with that 13 year old teacher in the new 90210, Miss Holier than thou Kelly deserved it! She was always so judgemental. Glad when Valerie came to town and would cuss out Kelly.

When Kelly turned down both Brandon and Dylan and chose herself. “I choose me.”
I hated her so much at that point.

ITA, shari. Season 3 was AWESOME!!! Tanner, no one could rock that leather combo like Brenda. Then you had Donna bringing it with that short skirt and killer black boots she wore when they went to the hotel to meet Color Me Badd(…tick tock you don’t stop) I’m still in awe. LOL!!!
    Dylan&Brenda Fan 4Life!!

  • That’s my favorite episode

They were shorts, Jennifer. Knit shorts, stockings, black turtleneck, red leather jacket. Hot.
