'Arrested Development' movie: From Maeby to Shirley?

The latest on the still hypothetical Arrested Development movie: It’s "moved closer to reality." Whoa. Ron Howard and Mitchell Hurwitz are reportedly closing deals with Fox. But it seems like I come across a variation of that last sentence at least once a week. If we rabid fans don’t get confirmation soon, we may have to follow the indirect instructions Will Arnett offered — not with words, but with his many faces (it’s an illusion!) — at his EW 1000 photo shoot this spring.

Let’s not make any "Key Decisions" about how to threaten Fox yet, but keep ‘em in mind…

I read someone was still in negotiation to appear, and I’m almost crying! Who wouldn’t want to do an AD movie? The Bluths would look freakin’ awesome on the big screen, not to mention the return of the chicken dances. (Just a little movie question, if the analrapist joke was in a movie, would that make it an R? ‘Cause sometimes TV is shockingly inappropriate and amazing David-Cross-funny)

Good Lord… what do we have to do to get this movie made already?

Good title, It’s amazing how many times I’ve read Arrested Development movie headlines using the “arrested development” joke.

I love this show! I hope the movie gets made!

I’m just happy it’s not another headline about Twilight. ENOUGH ABOUT TWILIGHT.
    Blueths Rule!

  • Nicki

First movie ever I would have to see on opening night!

  • Phil

If this really happens, I’ll be in the theater screaming like those tweens for Twilight!

    STEVE HOLT!

I read somewhere else that it is Michael Cera who is holding out. Hopefully he is not getting too big for his britches…please George Michael, don’t let us down…

Maeby: All Pop-Pop ever wanted was to see you with another man besides Daddy.
Lindsay Funke: You’re right. I’ll just throw on a skirt, take off my underwear and make your Pop-Pop proud.

As much as I liked the show I can’t imagine the studio would greenlight this project. Who would go see it except the few million people who watched the series. What would that gross? $30 million?

  • Tenna

    LOOK AT BANNER, MICHAEL.

  • John

The author’s right – I feel like I’ve read this article once a month for the last year. Stop TEASING us, Hollywood! Save our Bluths!

WHERE THE F*** ARE MY HARD BOILED EGGS!!!

  • Jay

Well Jeff, if they can keep the budget of the movie down to say $10 million, then a $30 million gross would be a nice return on investment for the studio.

  • to Jeff

this show averaged 5-6 million fans. So say a few more people are curious and 7 million people see it at $10 each. That’s $70 million dollars! Plus I know true AD fans will see it more than once. It’s totally worth the studio’s time, come on!

    Bob Loblaw

  • Sammy

Please let this be true! Hooray! And in the spirit of Arrested Development, “the last woman I thought I’d be checking out at Spring Break would be mom”

  • GOB

Hey Cera, this is a $6000 suit! C’MON!!!!!

  • Chris

nice job to all, I am going to go with:
Michael to GOB: “Get rid of the Seaward”
Lucille : “I’ll leave when I am good and ready”
    Bonus:
    Buster: “Army had half-day”
