Look, I understand the concept of corporate synergy that’s prompting ABC to pop an image of Bolt (the titular character of an upcoming film produced by its sister company Disney)onto the end of its ABC Studios-produced series. And frankly, the little animated canine could be a lot more obtrusive — the way the networks are pushing product these days, it wouldn’t have surprised me if Bolt had been a central figure in the nightclub fire rescue on last night’s Desperate Housewives. All that aside, though, the suddenly ubiquitous scamp is working my last nerve.I know it’s wrong, but every time Bolt appears on my TV screen, there’s a part of me rooting for Cruella De Vil to sweep in and turn him into a fluffy coat collar.I can’t be alone on this one, can I? Take the poll below and let me know.

I say this with nothing but love Michael but there are more important things… Not only did I not notice this Buzz thing but when you told me about it, I could barely work up enough energy to write a comme…. zzzzzzz….
Great Slezak. Now where’s by Brothers and Sisters recap?
Yeah, it must be really nice to have nothing more than this to worry about. I understand the frustration of wanting something to report on, but I wish I had your job…
BTW, I haven’t seen the promos (don’t you have a DVR?), but I saw the movie on Sat. Pretty good.
I actually thought it was cute. I mean, he barks and he’s gone. It takes a second. How is that annoying? Do I have to remind you of NBC and the constant Bee Movie promotions. I’ll take this little add in over that.
Bolt is adorable, so I can deal with it — unlike those dreadful and annoying Bee Movie promos like Vicky mentioned. Ugh, those needed to go.
The Bolt promos aren’t nearly as bad as the “Twilight” promos, interviews, speculation, etc that have been plaguing EW. I’d rather see that dog than any more TWILIGHT. Blech!
You’re calling out ABC for overexposing Bolt? That’s kind of bold coming from the “we’re going to ram ‘Twilight’ so far down your throat you’ll get a free vampire colonoscopy” mag.
Wow. The fact that 57% of the vote says they are not noticing the promos means that a lot of people aren’t watching ABC. If it’s being tacked onto the end of an episode, it’s most likely being unseen due to the fact that the program was DVR’ed and the system was prompting people to delete the program (DirecTV makes the screen go completely black or returns you to the program you’re watching live).
More Hamster in the Ball!!!
I have a feeling that little guy will steal the movie
I agree with Vicky. If anything, it was cute. When I saw it last night, I thought was a hokey show of corporate synergy but the fact that it was so unobtrusive was very nice. My only objection lies in Disney’s overall neglect of cats. Save for the Aristocats and Lucifer on Cinderella (which was a cruel representation), Sheer Khan, and The Lion King, the cat population is largely underrepresented in the “wonderful” world of Disney. I accuse Disney of ailurophobia!
I prefer Bolt to all the Jonas Brothers pimping that ABC does.
Seinfeldvision & The Bee Movie
I agree with TPK and Jay. The ABC promos are nothing compared to Twilight ad nauseum throughout the EW site. I enjoyed the Twilight series and will see the movie, but please–if we’re comparing overkill, well, poor little Bolt’s got nothing on you guys.
AB-who? I can’t think of a single show I watch with them, so no Bolt, and no problem. I saw the previews for Bolt at Comic Con, so I am looking forward to it–though mostly for the sidekick. Bolt’s strictly the straight dog in the comedy duo!
I’ve hardly noticed them, but I’ve hardly had the time to watch my favorite shows because I’m working three jobs to pay bills in this economy…
I thought I was the only one that noticed EW shoving Twilight down our throats. Enough with Twilight already! Stop trying to make it turn into a bigger cultural phenom than it is. Real culture phenoms happen naturally and don’t need EW pushing it all in our face.
I didn’t realize people actually stick around to watch the credits and logos and crap that comes after the show. By that point I’ve already moved on to what’s next. If I`d known Bolt was there, I might actually have stuck around – he`s pretty cute
BTW, off topic though it may be, I agree with all the people calling EW out on the excessive Twilight coverage. I love EW, and it’ll take a lot more than this to make me stop reading, but you guys are upon occasion like a dog with a bone. You fixate on certain things – Twlight, Lost, Heroes, Gossip Girl, etc – and cover them WAY to often, when you could be running covers on something more interesting. For example, EW talks all the time about saving Pushing Daisies – how about a cover story on that instead of 2 Twilight covers in the space of 5 months? Or that time that there were 2 Batman covers in the space of 1 month?
The bolt promos are annoying but I have to agree that they are “Twilight” is getting on my nerves. I wondered what all the fuss was, so I read the book. OH boy-very sappy book!!! the promos for that movie are EVERY WHERE!! enough already. Reminds me of the promo for Star Wars Clone Wars.
Is EW’s “Twilight” obsession making the sun go down on my viewship of the magazine and website? YES.
I saw Bolt in 3D with my kids this weekend expecting to take a nap… it was REALLY GOOD, even with out kids!!!
Twilight articles in EW…enough already
Totally agree with other posters- the Twilight thing is another example of why I cancelled my EW subscription and now only read it online- so that I don’t have to waste money reading about Twilight, Gossip Girl, Lost or any of the other shows that become EW darlings that I don’t watch. Oh, add the X-Files to that list as well. I can’t even count how many covers they’ve devoted to that show. Besides, Bolt is practically absent when you compare him to Jerry Seinfeld’s Bee Movie nonsense.
I haven’t noticed the “Bolt” promos at all, unlike the Frank TV promos on TBS during the baseball playoffs.
a few seconds of a cute little animated dog have you THIS upset? oh please…
I’m personally obsessed with all things Twilight. I love all the coverage, and could even stand some more. If there is any articles I’m not interested in (ie. TRL Finale), I don’t read ‘em. If some of you are so sick of Twilight, why spend the time to post about it? You’re feeding the hype as much as the Twilighters are.
I actually just noticed it last night, and thought that it was cute and fairly unobtrusive.
As for the Twilight thing, I have to agree. I haven’t read the books and quite frankly, I’m not sure that I want to any more after the relentless coverage. I’ve seen too many pictures of bored-looking actors in relation to the movie, so I’m pretty sure that I won’t be seeing it. I don’t wish any ill to the movie or its potential as a franchise, but I doubt that it’ll be getting any monetary support from me.
You’re nagging about five seconds of a dog which livens up the boringest production card on TV (ooh a camera and a clapper guy, along with the ABC song! I love this animation, ABC!), when you’ve been rambling about Twilight for the last eight months? I ended my subscription to your magazine after ten years because I couldn’t stand one more stupid article about Robert Pattison and that lame book. Talk about a pot and black kettle.
I was hoping for a mirthless PETA-type to write an unintentionally hilarious screed about fur. Oh well, I guess it’s down to wasting human foodstuffs on purportedly bisexual tartlets.
I barely watch ABC outside Lost airings, so the Bolt thing doesn’t bother me.
As for the Twilight coverage, although I agree EW’s going to overkill mode with the coverage, Erica said it best. If you don’t want to read about it, skip it. EW makes hundreds of articles on vastly different subjects. Hate Lost? Avoid Jensen’s articles/reviews on it. Don’t care about Survivor? Why read Dalton’s recaps? Couldn’t care les about American Idol? Skip Slezak’s coverage like I do and stop complaining about it. People, it’s not that hard to say no thanks and move on.
Erica and t3hdow, we have a right to complain about all the coverage that EW has given Twilight, which is possibly the worst tripe I ever read.
If you don’t like the complaints against the outrageous shilling of Twilight by this very magazine, take your own advise and scroll on by.
No one said you had to comment.
As for the Bolt promos, Slezak grow up and quit your bitchin’. It’s a cute family film from ABC’s parent company. Of course they are going to advertise it. Have you suddenly gone stupid?
