Oscar-winning film legend Meryl Streep is reportedly starring in Library Cat, a movie about a stray cat’s impact on an Iowa town.

Huh. I know the story and it’ll be cute (for Lifetime) when they do it, but Streep? Huh.
I live in Iowa and I’ve never heard of this movie and/or any events that it is based on. I do want to point out that Iowa isn’t particularly metropolitan, but it’s a pretty alright place. We have cable TV, the internet – even homosexuals! What more could you want?
Say what you will, but Library Cat is a nice, make-you-feel-good book. And yes, I work in a library and I love cats, so perhaps I’m not the most unbiased person in this situation.

This must be based on the book “Dewey” which is about the Spencer Library cat who was found as a kitten one cold winter morning after he had been shoved into the library book drop. They adopted him and made him the official library cat and somehow the little fur ball became famous around the world. It’s “Marley and Me” for cat-lovers. I was wondering how long it was going to take for someone to turn it into a movie. Turns out not long at all! I read the book and it was cute but a bit too saccharine for my tastes. I think I’ll skip the film version.
She doesn’t always make the best career decisions. Case in point: She Devil.
I’d rather see a movie about Spaghetti Cat.

I live in Iowa–not too far from Spencer, actually–and I work in the public library. I’d probably watch this movie, although it’ll be more interesting to see if they actually shoot it in Spencer.
