There’s been a lot of hand-wringing over the past few days about whether comedy will suffer under an Obama presidency because comics (especially the all-white Read the full post.

“…waging war on america for profit and or power can decalre peace. they do so by standing down and stopping their war on the elderly and reality. until then, it’s on.”
And you are helping the situation, how? Making yourself look rabid and frothing-at-the-mouth only fuels the fire. Do you really think anyone will pay attention to your speech? Or, will they dismiss it because it’s so over-the-top? (yes). There were plenty of insane-over-the-top accusations made by the GOP, and guess what? The public didn’t pay attention. The fliers in my mailbox hastened to accuse Obama of all KINDS of horrible things (terrorist, communist, PLO, teaching Kindergarners about gay marriage, etc) and he still won, with a significant margin. So, if you want to win your war, you’ll do it by avoiding fear-mongering, because it’s (thank god) losing effectiveness.

Detail to me what is accpetable speech then gop, I mean obama supporter. Comedy yes, that’s fine. rush limbaugh fox and the gop attacking liberals and obama everyday, fine and acceptable.
Please draw my free speech line for me so I know what is acceptable for liberals to say. I know we get differant rules and laws than everybody else.
so on a blog that talks about conservatives not being able to make joke about obama, or THEIR free speech being stifled, please tell ME what I can and can not say.
It will help me. Please tell me what I’m allowed to say and what I should nto say. It would mean so much more coming from you than me. your mental ideals and philophies are so much more important than me and mine. Please enlighten me.
Lighten up folks.
“So, if you want to win your war, you’ll do it by avoiding fear-mongering, because it’s (thank god) losing effectiveness”
good. that’s all I can hope for. It wasn’t made so by people standing by and allowing it to be the norm. It is so, now, by people who fought them back. Free is not free. Some people must pay for it, some with their lives. Some people must fight for it. amny people stand by and refuse to fight. the hottest circles of hell burn for those who stand by idolly and allow horrible atroicties and evil to be prepetuated in their name, refusing to pick a side and or fight for what is right. Do you, tough girl. Please allow others the same freedom you enjoy. Allow others to be them.
If you woudl silence me yet fight for rush hannity and fox’s free speech rights (or here comics), you are a hypocrite. either all get free speech or none do. the gop can silence others. When will the street run both ways, or neither? One day perhaps we all will be free.

YES, for some!!! I’m black and I love Obama but we’ve been cracking jokes about him since the primaries. I don’t think a white person telling jokes about him would go over well but black people can get away with it.
“Free is not free.”
Freedom, rather.
Remember pat tillman (san jose, ca)
Rufus, it is obvious you are a veteran because you are rambling like a mad man (and yes you do come off as over the top). Most of the comics mentioned in the article are Democrats so they are not conservatives going after Obama like you claim. And if you are so passionate about free speech, then the comics have the right to go after Obama just like they have gone after Bush.
Remember when Dana Carvey lampooned Bush Sr? Most of the mannerisms and catch-phrases were fictitious; and yet they still rang true. Armison needs to do the same thing–only to make the deviations soooo outlandish that nobody will take them seriously. Similar to the New Yorker’s famed Obama-militant cover. Similar to the late Phil Hartman’s portrayal of Reagan (“Back to WORK!”). Or… best yet… let Barack be secretly disdainful at the Obamaniacs out there–and go all William Shatner on us (“Get a Life!”).
I so sick of this idiotic idea that Obama jokes are somehow off-limits. The simple fact is that Obama just doesn’t have as many mockable characteristics as other recent Presidents (he’s not dumb like Bush and always tripping over his own tongue, he’s not a philanderer like Clinton). When Obama does something funny, there will be jokes. Otherwise, this whole line of discussion is retarded.
WELL SAID DAN. to destroy our president just because, helps who exactly? Bush earned his hate. He is either a criminal incompetant or a fascist, and I don’t think they are that dumb. Obama has done nothing to deserve bush level scorn. We need good american working for america (RATHER THAN THE GOP MODEL OF SABOTAGE AND TREASON FOR PROFIT, and every man for his or her self). How does destroying obama help america. Pray tell what good it does. He’s not even in office. Let him get sworn in. WHEN he makes mistakes, go after him. Wait a few months for pete’s sake.

Good. Maybe you’ll remember my words then.
Nick, what the hell is an “Obamaniac”? Is that like a “McCasshole?”
peace out. Gary susman is a bought and paid for propogandist tool. Have a good veterns day. Don’t forget to hug a vet.
Craig Ferguson had some funny things to say about Obama the other night. Jokes relating to the perception that he can do no wrong and can solve all the world’s problems with, what Ferguson called it, “his magical power of hope.” It’s all in the delivery, of course.
I wish Craig Ferguson was taking over for Leno instead of Conan. Ferguson is waaaay more funny.
