For all the swooning, declarations of love, and marriage proposals proffered last night, it would have been easy to imagine oneself in the midst of a French restaurant on Valentine’s Day — instead of the gray-walled mezzanine of a New York City Apple store. But that’s just the effect Twilight star Robert Pattinson has on his rabid teen — and adult — fans, some of whom waited in line for more than 12 hours to be dazzled by the heartthrob during a Q&A session with Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke.
I’ve been to enough Twilight events to know what to expect: screaming girls — lots of them. Though this wasn’t my first time at the vampire rodeo, even I was worried about one young Twilight-hoodie-bedecked teen sitting behind me, who was shaking so violently I thought she might go in to convulsions. And as if to work her and her fellow acolytes into even more of a frenzy, the 22-year-old Pattinson arrived a fashionable 15 minutes late — and with his signature tousled tresses covered by a gray beanie (a development that left me a wee bit disappointed). However, it took just one shy "hello" from the Brit for any tardy transgressions to be quickly forgotten.
The hour-long session was a mix of moderator Donna Fredykin’s questions, and queries from the crowd (including somewhat uncomfortable probes into the Brit’s taste in women and whether he like likes co-star Kristen Stewart). A few of the juicy tidbits, after the jump.

- Pattinson will not be pulling a Joaquin Phoenix any time soon. Though the actor dabbles in music (read what we had to say about his Twilight track here), he doesn’t plan on releasing an album in the near future.
- Rob isn’t the only actor who had a hand in the soundtrack. Themelancholy Iron & Wine ditty "Flightless Bird, American Mouth,"which accompanies the prom scene, was chosen by Pattinson’s co-starKristen Stewart.
- The first Twilight script Hardwicke read wasvery different from what we’ll be seeing in theaters come Nov. 21."The very first sentence in the script we threw away was, ‘Bella was atrack star,’ " Hardwicke explained. "In, like, the second page, she waseating in the diner with James.” Wha?!?
- Pattinson is a member of…Team Jacob?!? "I’d go with Jacob," Pattinsonsaid. "Jacob is way more interesting…If you have a girlfriend that’slike Edward…yeah, you’re hot and everything, but just shut up."
- What do Pattinson and Edward have in common? "I always getcarried away when I’m kissing people," Pattinson quipped. "I thinkyou’re making their night right now," Hardwicke joked.
And just as quickly as he’d made their year night,the fans’ beloved vamp was whisked into the dark streets of SoHo,though not before the crowd collectively lurched toward the exit,bombarding the star with photo and autograph requests and, much to thechagrin of the poor Apple folks, ignoring the Twilight trailer meant to distract them long enough for Pattinson to make his getaway.

I dont get why he’s late when he has a publicist in tow. Do the do it on purpose. I liked the way he had his hair at the Sex Drive Premiere. But a short cut would suit him as he has such a fantastic jawline. We should campaign to get him to play Jeff Buckley in a film. So many people have suggested it that I want it to happen now.

i saw at Planet Hollywood today! The books are definitely addicting but i have to agree, stupid. I LOVE Edward, but Jacob has a more real relationship with Bella than Edward who just spends his tiome gazing at her, acting dramatic and kissing lol.

False. More posts today about the RPattz quote in Jacob communities than a weeks worth of Twilight and Taylor news combined. Obviously, nothing better to do. Its cool. It must be hard seeing as Jacob’s love for Bella was based on an egg. He can love her the “right way” now. Riding off into the sunset with her infant.
If Taylor said that he liked Edward over Jacob, Team Edward would go crazy with it. Why can’t us Team Jacob’ers have a little fun?

this is just hilarious to me…there is no more Team Jacob ad Team Edward…Breaking Dawn already came out, every character got their happy ending…we all knew the whole way through that Bella can’t live without Edward, and its great that Jacob found a happy ending too…I don’t see why people just can’t accept that and be happy for the blissful ending that we got, rather than continuing to fight. when it comes to Rob, Rob sees himself as Edward in a lot of ways, and Rob gets an INSANE amount of attention, cause Edward cullen is one of the most loved characters ever, and Rob feels really weird to “praise” Edward’s character, so he makes comments like this to take a little bit of the attention off of himself…LOL, this is just his sense of humor, there’s no need for anyone to get upset!!
You make a lot of sense Susa. Except his sense of humor is not well received with the young set. He needs more media training. He is being called ungrateful for the part now.. and that really isn’t good for the film or his career.

EXACTLY Fiona. He doesn’t understand that people take these jokes/”goofing off” seriously…its just his sense of humor and his way to take some of the attention off of himself, but I’m sure he was advised, because of this, to not make anymore jokes like this, because a lot of people take them seriously.
Personally I knew this was coming, from past interviews and such it was obvious he didn’t have any real affection for Edward. I’d even go so far as saying he is disdainful of Edward as well as his rabid fan-base (sorry guys).
Though, I think that instead of being Team Jacob though, he’s actually just Team Bella-move-on-with-your-life and Team wtf-is-this-nonsense-book?
