With the world seemingly going to hell in a hand basket these days, we could use some eye-poking, gut-punching slapstick to lighten the mood, and off the top of my head, I can’t think of a better forum for that than a Farrelly Brothers-directed Three Stooges movie, currently set for a Nov. 20, 2009, release. Of course, it’s the casting that will determine whether this turns out to be a side-splitting tribute or disgraceful tarnishing of the Stooge legacy. I’m thinking Adam Sandler or Patton Oswalt as Moe, Will Arnett or Ryan Gosling as Larry (yes, Gosling), and David Koechner or Seth Rogen as Curly. Okay, PopWatchers, give us your dream Stooge cast.

I hate that I know this, but Larry is the one with curly hair, not Curly (a misnomer). And Will Ferrell would be perfect for Larry.
Folks, its a mistake. Don’t do it. I will not be as good as the shorts. There is no way.
Jack Black as Moe!
My biggest concern is that it’s going to end up being all sex-related humor. My family LOVES the classic Three Stooges and I would hate for the new movie to be filled with questionable content. btw, I think Jack Black would make a good Curly.
I will hurt the second person that says Jack Black as anyone. (First person gets a mulligan.)
Moe should be Benicio Del Toro. He’s even expressed interest in the role according to AICN.
Why, Oh Hollywood, why?
Please, please, please!!! No Jack Black; absolutely no Will Ferrell. Jim Norton as Moe, Tracey Morgan as Larry and Ricky Gervais as Curley. Tom Cruise in a cameo as Shemp.
How about Seth Rogin as Curly? I can see that. We should get Will Ferrell in there as Larry (he’s kinda tall though) and Moe……Vince Vaughn or Jon Favreau…someone kind of stoic in the face.
How about nobody? Bleech, this is an awful idea. How about coming up with some fresh ideas, Hollywood?
out of all your suggestions I suggest that ryan rynalods should be thrown into the mix
Though these three guys (four if you count Shemp- I’m not counting Joe or Curly Joe) were characters, they were also real people. It’s like trying to recast the Marx Brothers or Abbott and Costello. We saw how well (not) that worked with the Little Rascals.
Go ahead and make a movie about three short, ugly morons that specialize in slapstick and physical humor, but don’t call it the Three Stooges.
The Little Rascals movie was actually very entertaining. I got a pickle…I got a pickle…I got a pickle hey hey hey hey…
David Paymer as Larry
Ya gotta remember that they were all short! Throwing Will Ferrell in the mix would stand out like a giraffe in a penguin cage. Better to use “unknowns” who can play and look the part rather than celebrities who look nothing like Howard, Howard and Fine.
