EW.com’s Hollywood Insider blog reports that Courteney Cox will helm an upcoming ABC series called Cougar Town (which is basically the inverse of Lipstick Jungle but a bit more literal). While the title exudes sheer desperation — for viewers…and young men…and a giant Cosmo beheld by a cougar (pictured), because why not — I’m psyched that Cox will head back to network primetime. ABC, don’t you dare let this animal loose on Friday nights, like doomed goop-fest The Ex-List.
Still, if we’re going to make this middle-aged-women-on-the-prowl "cougar" thing official, there should at least be a complementary series about men. Creepy Pervert Town has a lovely ring to it. Oh, wait. It’s already on the air. (Harvey Keitel’s Lt. Hunt might live in the ’70s, but come on now.) Roar!
What about you — would you watch Cougar Town based on the title alone, or boycott it for the same reason?
