Courteney Cox's 'Cougar Town': Roar?’s Hollywood Insider blog reports that Courteney Cox will helm an upcoming ABC series called Cougar Town (which is basically the inverse of Lipstick Jungle but a bit more literal). While the title exudes sheer desperation — for viewers…and young men…and a giant Cosmo beheld by a cougar (pictured), because why not — I’m psyched that Cox will head back to network primetime. ABC, don’t you dare let this animal loose on Friday nights, like doomed goop-fest The Ex-List.

Still, if we’re going to make this middle-aged-women-on-the-prowl "cougar" thing official, there should at least be a complementary series about men. Creepy Pervert Town has a lovely ring to it. Oh, wait. It’s already on the air. (Harvey Keitel’s Lt. Hunt might live in the ’70s, but come on now.) Roar!

What about you — would you watch Cougar Town based on the title alone, or boycott it for the same reason?

I’ll give anything Courtney Cox is in at least one chance (thanks to my adolescent love of “Friends”), but based on the name alone, no – I wouldn’t watch this show.

    Clearly boycott

Sounds gimmicky, so yes of COURSE I’m watching it! Although, may I submit a new name for the Keitel counterpart:
    Pedo Junction.

  • Ugh

I hate the term “Cougar” so much. Incredibly icky and offensive. Everyone please stop using it.

  • Nancy

Boycott based on name only. The term “cougar” has already been over-used, and wasn’t very good to begin with.

Wonder if her BFF Jennifer Aniston will appear on the show, considering she’s a real life cougar at the moment with John Mayer.

Hope that Courteney is able to move her face more in this show. On Dirt she was painful to watch, so stiff in the face (her recent admission of Botox must be why). But I’m glad she’s coming back to TV. Her Friend Jennifer should follow her lead, some actresses are just meant for the small screen only and these two are good examples of that. Looks like Courtenay got the memo, Jennifer not yet.

Boycott based on tacky title. People don’t call older guys chasing younger girls stupid animal-based names, right? Right.

  • Bethany

It’s not the Botox – it’s whatever she put in her lips. And it’s apparently the rage in Hollywood – CC, Meg Ryan and Kim Delaney, to name a few. It looks HORRIBLE.

Ok Nancy, if u don’t like the word Cougar, how about “Sabertooth”. And why does editor Annie makes mid-life women cougar sound sexy, while men are now considered ‘creepy’. Boy, talk about reverse sexism.

  • Raven_Moon

Couldn’t they come up with a better title? I’m so sick of that word.

I’m laughing solely because “Cougar Town” reminds me of “MILF Island” so much that I’m starting to think “30 Rock” wasn’t very far off… Call me when a 13-year-old boy rides Courtney around on an island somewhere…

I certainly would give it a try. This crappy information you gave us makes me wonder even more.
America at its conservative best … man can date younger woman but if a woman is enjoying herself ….
    Oh and, please vote Obama.
    Lots of love, Petra

Courteney is a fox!!! I loved her in “Friends” and I can hardly wait to see her in this new series. I read here ( about her secret diet and workout routine which help her look so amazing and, wow, talk about hard work after 40.
