Why 'The Ex List' was doomed

I’m sorry to learn that CBS has yanked The Ex List (pictured) from its schedule after just four airings, since I like star Elizabeth Reaser Read the full post.

To *ALL* (maybe just one person reposting over and over) who aren’t satisfied with CBS decision and vow never to watch the network again, it doesn’t matter, your still gonna find something to be vengeful at. I never heard of the show and I watch the network (Amazing Race, 2 1/2 men etc). I don’t really like the romantic comedys because they run stale after awhile, they need to revamp the concept. Maybe, try romantic comedy from the males perspective, it would be more entertaining than a girl lying in bed moping through an entire episode (like so many of these shows). TRY SOMETHING NEW, the new shows tend to last.

Although I am interested in the premise of the show and DVRd it every week…
    1. they should have picked a better lead actress and friends
    2. it should have been a 30 minute show, after about 20 minutes I was looking at the clock like okay, can we wrap this up
    3. more jokes were needed although I don’t know if the actors they pick could have carried them
Honestly CBS, I’m not giving any of your new shows a chance anymore. First Swingtown, now this?!?

Every year it’s the same. Friday night is a ratings wasteland and yet networks still think shows should get regular weeknight ratings. I don’t watch reruns so that is not going to get better ratings. I will, however DVR new shows, if there are any. Maybe if more people did the same, shows like this and moonlight wouldn’t get yanked so quick. If you don’t have a DVR, GET ONE, its 2008 already. Its the only way to watch tv.

    THE TITLE.
It’s like those horrible ‘chick-lit’ book covers in pink with scripty fonts and glitter.
No straight guy will watch a show called “Miss Match” or “The Ex List”, but will watch “Pushing Daisies” or “Mad Men” (even though they are both pretty full of hot guys).
I guarantee this show would still be on if they focussed on Elizabeth Reaser’s hotness, and called it “ONCE BOFFED”.

As a grown woman that still hangs out in kiddie pools, plays google your ex drinking games, and hasrhly judges every guy I date, ‘The Ex-List’ will be sorely missed…

I really liked this show and am disappointed that they pulled it already. Friday nights are just killers…just put re-runs of all the popular weekday shows on.

i think the biggest problem was that they put this show on a FRIDAY – not many 20-somethings and 30-somethings that i know, who would be interested in a show like this, are sitting at home on Friday night.

Putting the Ex List On a Friday was already a Doomed Attempt for the show, I DVR Evrery thing on Fridays and Watch em on sundays cuz i party. Friday shows never make it. Otherwise TGIF would still be on air.

That’s just it. Friday and Saturday nights are two of the worst nights for television. It’s not like the 70′s and 80′s. People would rather go out on a Friday or watch the new movie on HBO because they did not want to pay 10 dollars to see a movie to begin with. The Ex List was more suited for Oxygen or Lifetime anyway.

Who wants to watch a show with the lead character sleeping her way through an Ex-List. I watched and was bored.

A show about a woman who must find her “soul mate” or risk never getting married? Friday night slot aside, there are two things fundamentally wrong with this premise:
    1. There is NO SUCH THING as a “soul mate” – it’s just a term made up by folks who are extremely happy with their chosen mate.
    2. Some of the happiest folks on the planet are women who have never been married.
Maybe it really is time to stop cramming that old “finding Mr. Right” fairy tale down the collective throats of our female offspring. Unfortunately, I don’t think we’re ready for a prime time show about finding Mr. Right Now.

My problem with women on TV these days is that they’re all so self-absorbed, whiny, and don’t respect themselves OR the men they’re dating. It’s the Sex and the City syndrome. Can’t they make anyone likable these days?

I think of How I Met Your Mother as a kind of Romantic Comedy. Its about Ted finding his true love, and presents one of the most stable, loving couples on tv right now(Lily and Marshall). Its more like a romantic comedy thrown through a pg-13 Judd Apatow machine.

What a shame! The time slot killed this terrific show. Don’t they consider all the people DVR’ing shows?!

Nothing will replace Moonlight. I watch Ghost Whisperer and then promptly change the channel for the rest of Friday night.
