Defiance
Plot: During WWII, three brothers (Daniel Craig, Liev Schreiber, and Jamie Bell) organize a Jewish resistance group in the forests of Belorussia.
Looks like: Robin Hood, Prince of Jews
Verdict: The movie’s set-up — based on a true story — is pretty amazing, and the cast is top-notch. If director Ed Zwick can meld action and drama like he did in Courage Under Fire (instead of muddling them like he did in The Last Samurai), Defiance might just stand up to the Oscar competition later this year.

Plot: A boy befriends a young girl who happens to be a vampire.
Looks like: Twilight meets My Life as a Dog
Verdict: Pop songs, massages, fish… and now horror movies. Is there anything the Swedes don’t do better?
The Haunting in Connecticut
Plot: A family moves into a new home with a few supernatural secrets.
Looks like: Poltergeist. No, really. Just Poltergeist.
Verdict: Horror movies don’t have to be original to be good (check out Clark Collis’ hot-of-the-press B+ review of Quarantine), but a tiny twist would’ve been nice here. Side note to Veronica Mars fans: Beaver’s back!
I’ve excited about “Let the Right One In” for a while now. It looks really good, but I doubt it comes to a theater near me. I’m curious about “Defiance.” I think I’ll wait for some reviews first, though.

The set-up and talent for “Defiance” is very promising. I am cautiously optimistic for this movie in terms of quality if not salability.
Defiance looks really good, I might just go see it in theaters instead of waiting for it to come out.
