Amy Sedaris fans, rejoice: she’s getting a new sitcom. We don’t yet know what it’s called or what it’s about or where on the TV dial it will end up, but she’ll create, write, and star in the show, with assists from Paul Dinello (her writing/directing partner on Strangers With Candy and Exit 57) and David Letterman (who’ll produce, as he did the Candy movie). The Hollywood Reporter article announcing the deal doesn’t elicit much info from the funny lady as to what the premise of her show will be — only that it’s an idea she came up with six years ago that she now feels it’s the right time to do, that she’ll be ad libbing occasionally, and that she’s shopping the show to networks but hopes it will end up on cable. Does that mean that the idea is something suddenly topical, or that there’ll be Curb Your Enthusiasm-style improv, or that the content is probably too risque for broadcast TV? Well, we can only hope — and speculate. Sedaris also hints that the idea isn’t fully fleshed out yet, so maybe she’s open to your suggestions. Tell us below what you’d like to see happen in a Sedaris sitcom.

Cameo by her old friend Stephen Colbert? I love Colbert, but for some reason seeing him Monday through Thursday isn’t enough. Plus, he’s a great comedic actor outside of his Bill-O’Rielly-on-ecstasy Colbert Report persona. Although I love it!
I saw her on the Letterman show last night she is so over the top. I love her humor. Another she needs another show like strangers with candy to work to her strengths.
I’d like for her rabbit, Dusty, to have a walk-on role in the pilot.
Honestly, I don’t really care about the concept because no matter what it is with Amy Sedaris it will be hilarious! I LOVE when she’s on Letterman – their chemisty and appreciation of each other’s humor is so fun to watch.
I couldn’t come up with the idea of Strangers With Candy if I had a million years. She doesn’t need my help. Glad to hear she’s working on a sitcom. I used to love sitcoms–these days, not so much. She’s incredible, and I can’t wait to see what’s next.
I’d like to see her do a Roseanne Barr kind of dsitcom, with real people’s problems and trials, but sharp, snappy humor and sarcasm.

excellent- i can’t wait!
YES!
Miss Amy should play a small town politician who is thrust into the national spotlight and at the same time, her husband just announced he wants a sex change. This would be
HIL-larious!
Best news EVER! Don’t care what it’s about, just as long as it’s just as funny as Strangers, if not funnier.
I’d watch her just have a weekly conversation with Letterman.
DEAR AMY:
1) Please include a recipe in every show. No sitcom has done that! And ever since I made Barbara Eden’s chocolate-chip cookies from TV Guide, I have wanted them to!
2) Please make sure your character injures or disfigures herself every ratings sweeps period. Because that would be funny.
3) Must be set in either New York City, or a podunk town in upstate New York (a la Newhart)
4) You must play more than 1 character.
5) Either set in the early 70s, or you just dress that way (the photos in “I Like You” = sexy trend-setting sitcom)
5) Martha Stewart as your boss or landlady.
6) Animated Opening Credits with a song that explains the show.
A quirky doctor/lawyer/journalist/generic career who just can figure out men/her parents/husband/crazy friends. I’ve seen what this woman can do to the after school special, lets see what she can do with mundane tv aimed at women.
Play multiple roles, and have cameos by some of your other characters. we would love to see Jerri of course, but I know Piglet could find a good home on cable.
