According to Variety, Daily Show correspondents (and spouses) Samantha Bee and Jason Jones are writing a pilot script for CBS: "The couple would also star in the as-yet-untitled comedy, which will revolve around the behind-the-scenes world of a celebrity chef (played by Jones) and the two women who run his cooking empire (one of whom will be played by Bee)."
On a scale of 1 to 10, how likely is it that this show will make it to air? I’m feeling a 4. Not because I don’t like Bee and Jones and wish them post-Daily Show success.* But because I’m not feeling a cooking comedy. I hope they surprise me.
* I’m still pulling for you, Beth Littleford.

I also am not feeling a cooking comedy, but I LOVE Samantha Bee so I will give it a 9…
They’ll have a hard time topping “The God of Cookery,” the gold standard of cooking comedy.
I’m going to give it a 4 as well, simply because America doesn’t seem to like shows that revolve around cooks unless there is a British dude running around calling everyone Donkey. However, I think the show could jump to a 7 if they focused on the behind the scenes lives of 2 reporters for a fake news show on a basic cable channel
Love her. Him? Not so much.
Samantha Bee can definitely carry her own show! But I would prefer something more of an HBO, cable type instead of mainstream…..if Jones plays the straight guy to her it might work….I’ll give it an 8!
i think we tried the cooking comedy. it was called “kitchen nightmares” and it just didn’t, well, cut it.
On a totally unrelated note, they had a baby! I really want the baby (girl or boy? I have no idea…) to be on The Daily Show for some reason. They’re like the second funniest couple that just had/is having a baby right after Amy Poehler and Will Arnett.
Anyways, I’m not sure how excited I am for this…does this CBS show mean they’re off The Daily Show? Nuh-uh!
i’m not sure im feeling tha premise as well. might be funnier to have them as a Washington power couple a la Mary Matlin and James Carver.
I’m with anne. A crazed Washington power couple would be fun. But if they’re going to do the cooking thing, make Samantha the chef and have hubby try to run the biz. Hijinks galore while Jason tries to have Sam, the frontwoman, pay attention. Eh, maybe not such a good idea.
I really like these two on “The Daily Show,” but I’m not very excited about a cooking comedy.
Hello,
It’s already been done! “PX This” by “NYC former Maitre D’ to the stars” Abbe Diaz is currently in pre-production.
Just thought you’d like to know!
