First things first: Let’s get the title out of the way. The half-hour comedy that premiered on FX last night after It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia is called Testees. Yes, it’s pronounced just as you suspect, but it’s about two guys who make a living being medical test subjects — get it? Testees!
And that’s where the cleverness ends. FX seems to have taken the misanthropic — and deserved — success of It’s Always Sunny as license to slap together this penis-obsessed shock-com from “South Park writer” Kenny Hotz. (Never mind that Hotz is listed on IMDB as having only written three episodes of that show….) And so, last night, we met two guys (Steve Markle and Jeff Kassel) returning to TestiCal, the medical test facility they frequent, for yet another experiment. This time, it involved having some sort of pill inserted into their anuses. Cut to: One of the guys looking pregnant, bemoaning his swollen feet, and squeezing out some breast milk to prove it. But that’s child’s play compared to what came next. The centerpiece of the episode — the moment that literally made me cover my eyes and go, “Oh, no! No!” — was the attempted wire-hanger butt abortion.
As Valerie Cherish would no doubt say, “I don’t need to see that!” It’s not that I was offended; if something’s funny, I don’t care how outrageously tasteless the scenario. But this was simply nauseating. And I didn’t even mention the B-storyline…
What do you think? Was Testees the sitcom equivalent of medical waste? Or did it live up to the promise of its name?

I wanted to like it so badly, but it was just awwwwwful
this show has real potential, its always sunny is the funniest show on tv, and this one is using the same type of comedy but bringing it to a new and fresh level. Im going to enjoy watching this show after sunny every week, hopefully it stays on the air.
I love “Sunny”, but this show is horrible. I never laughed once.

I didn’t watch it but saw some of the commercials last week while watching “Sunny” and I remember turning to my boyfriend and saying “man, that does NOT look funny”….now I know I was right!
I’ll be one of the few to say that I loved the show – I got quite a few laughs out of it and hope that it stays on…however, I’m sure it won’t last. It’s certainly different than anything I can watch on other channels – something that FX is good at providing. The wire-hangar butt abortion scene?? HILARIOUS!!
It is truly sad that so many people out there are wound up like a discount tampon.

Uptight yuppies like you Ari don’t get it and you knuckleheads are the reason great shows like Family Guy get axed (thank the gods they got picked up again). So get a clue man, if it keeps this up, the show is going to be epic. So sit down, shut up and enjoy. Hopefully and I know that’s a lot to ask of you, will get it to.

The actors suck and the storylines are even worse. A dude getting pregnant? Wow, there’s a NEW idea! There is nothing funny about this show, nothing clever about it. If you’re missing a majority of your brain cells, you’ll probably dig it, though.
There is no doubt about it– this is terrible television. “Hey, I have an idea! Let’s take all of the shock humor of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, multiply it ten fold, and then remove any semblance of sophisticated writing or intelligent plot lines. Oh, and then to top it all off, let’s get a couple of shitty D list actors to front this travesty.”
I watched this show for the first time last night and thought it was the funniest show I have seen! Keep up the great work FX!!!

It’s Always Sunny is extreme, egregious, and sophisticated. On the show they have poked fun at abortion, religion, the homeless, etc., and never once have I been offended by what they’ve parodied. I only watched the first episode of Testees, but I turned it off before it was finished. Nothing in the show offended me; it was simply poorly done. The dialogue was dross. The plot was derivative and worn. Sorry; it was just uninteresting to me.

Testees was amazing. I just do not understand how most of the posts on this site contain negative reviews of the show. I would be very disappointed if Testees is canceled. I cant wait to see it again.
Loved the show — want it to come back. Only discovered it towards the end … but it was one of the funniest shows ever !!! BRING THE SHOW BACK !!!
