'Britney: For the Record': Will you watch?

On Nov. 30, MTV will air the 90-minute documentary Britney: For the Record (watch the trailer below), in which Britney Spears gets to tell her side of the story — the story being "What the hell was I thinkin’?" and, of course, the recording of her new album, Circus, due out Dec. 2, on her 27th birthday. Cameras followed Spears for three months with the purpose of capturing what it’s like for her to try to live a normal life. I know Spears asks herself that "What the hell was I thinkin’?" question, but I’m skeptical that we’ll get an answer out of her. Still, I’ll watch. Will you?P.S. Can you believe her video for "Womanizer" is premiering on 20/20 tonight?

Of course. Can’t wait. Just pray MTV Canada will air it on it’s day of airing. Sounds exciting. Gotta love all the promotion they are doing for this CD. Hope it shows in the sales. Love the song, “Womanizer”. Can’t wait to see the video. Sure it’s a promotional tour but hopefully we get a sense of the last few years from her.

NO….oh who am I kidding. yes i will.

Hell yeah….love her or hate her, she is infectious and I think we all want to see her get better and to continue to entertain us….through shocking us, but not the way she did with Federline and the craziness that ensued after that….

I love Brit, and I would watch it if I had cable…so since I do not, EW please recap it the next day for me! :)

  • mscisluv

Ditto on the no cable – recap please!

  • Lauren

I second the no cable/recap comments!

Like a train wreck–how can I not watch?
BTW-something’s wrong w/your EW polls. The last two caused my IE to hang.

  • RayT

I’m still captivated by her, I can’t explain it!

  • RayT

…and who the hell doesn’t have cable?!

No, I won’t watch and neither should you. People in this country are so addicted to tabloids and celebrity gossip, and yet it’s the most useless, meaningless nonsense. Watch a news channel, or the History channel, or Animal Planet, or the Discovery channel…anything but this crap.

Much as I hate admitting it, I really want to see her do well and recover from the past few years. I’m also interested in whether or not she’ll address her bipolar disorder (if indeed that was part of the problem). If she was truly mentally ill, she could do a lot of good by speaking out about it. But since this “interview” was done by her manager, I have a feeling it’ll be pretty benign. At least, it can’t be worse than “Chaotic”!

I will unashamedly be watching this. Prior to the Matt Lauer gum-smacking trash fest, you got a fairly clear idea of who Britney was, and what the heck was going on up there. But post K-Fed, she’s positively nuts. I mean, did you see her struggle with the two lines she had to deliver at the opening of the VMAs? What happened to nude-suit & snake-slave power-performer?!

I did not enthusiastically like “Womanizer” at first. Sonically, I thought “Gimme More” was better. I wanted a club banger and got a dance track. But after downloading the HQ version off Amazon.com, and listening to it as I worked out, I realized that the sone is good. It’s catchy, fast paced, and what she needed right now. Hopefully the video is good. I’m rooting for this girl. We watched her grow up with somewhat failed mentors around her and then she fell into a bad crowd. Hopefully in the interview she is really honest about what happened, but if she is not, I’ll understand. I am just looking forward to a new album. Blackout was underrated and not properly promoted. They should really consider putting good Blackout tracks as hidden bonus tracks on Circus. Heaven on Earth, Radar, Why Should I Be Sad, were all good songs. If Beyonce can take an old DC song off their 3rd album and put it on her debut album (Dangerously In Love) a year later, and it be a hit, so can Britney.

62% of respondents say they’re going to watch this? For God’s sake, why? Hahaha. You people truly are idiots. (I won’t even get into the hilarity of the notion of watching anything that’s on the pathetic and irrelevant MTV.)

  • woop

i’ll watch but there’s no way we’ll get a REAL answer, hello this was produced by her manager just in time to hype up her album. Even in the clip, Britney just looks sad beyond repair, like a lost little girl.
