As I type this, the Twilight trailer premiere widget on stepheniemeyer.com reads 2 days, 7 hours, 43 minutes, 18 seconds — wait — 17, 16, 15…oh, you get the point. And while I can hardly wait to see new clips from the most hotly anticipated flick of the fall (according to Amy Wilkinson), we’ve got other business to tend to, namely the movie’s new poster and soundtrack list. (Be sure to check back on Friday for our full analysis of the final trailer.)
My first thought upon seeing this image was, Why is it so difficult to make my boyfriend Robert Pattinson look properly dreamy? Here are my top three complaints:
1. The eyes. Not only do they look slightly off-kilter — is it just my imagination or is his right eye higher than his left? — but the color is creeping me out. I realize our smoldering vamp is supposed to have topaz-colored peepers, but these look like they’re about to shoot laser beams like those Sphinx-lady statues in The Neverending Story.
2. The skin. Though I’m no bloodsucker, I am a card-carrying member of the SPF 70 club, so I know a thing or two about porcelain (read: pasty) skin. It’s white, not gray. R Patz needs more Nicole Kidman and less Gargoyles.
3. The pose. I have a feeling Pattinson and Kristen Stewart were shot separately and melded together in Photoshop. Their bodies are at such odd angles and look really disconnected to one another. Where’s the love?
Things I do like:
1. The release date is correct.
Anyhoo, moving on to the soundtrack: In case you haven’t seen the full list, here it is, after the jump:
1. Muse, "Supermassive Black Hole"
2. Paramore, "Decode"
3. The Black Ghosts, "Full Moon"
4. Linkin Park, "Leave Out All The Rest"
5. MuteMath, "Spotlight" (Twilight Mix)
6. Perry Farrell, "Going All The Way (Into The Twilight)"
7. Collective Soul, "Tremble For My Beloved"
8. Paramore, "I Caught Myself"
9. Blue Foundation, "Eyes On Fire"
10. Rob Pattinson, "Never Think"
11. Iron & Wine, "Flightless Bird, American Mouth"
12. Carter Burwell, "Bella’s Lullaby"
The album includes several Meyer playlist regulars like Muse, Linkin Park, and Collective Soul, whose Tremble For My Beloved already appears on Meyer’s Twilight mix. Team Edward fans will want to note that Mr. Cullen himself has a song on the album (click here to see Rob Pattinson’s folksy singing at L.A.’s Whisky a Go Go).
Now it’s your turn, Twilighters/PopWatchers. What do you think of the new poster? Did your favorite artists make it on to the Twilight soundtrack? And will you be downloading every song when the album drops Nov. 4?

I agree. That poster does not do Robert, nor Edward justice. Whoever they hired to do it, obviously doesn’t know that Edward’s supposed to be beautiful and not zombie-like.
The fact that you referenced Gargoyles (greatest cartoon ever) means we have to be best friends now.
Have to agree with you on the poster Amy… fans on youtube have made better collages/posters than this one! It’s truly sad that a 13 year old girl is better at photoshop then whatever “experience artist” they paid to make this. Oh well, I am comforted by the new release date that only gets closer and closer as the days roll by. BTW I heard (MY BOYFRIEND, not yours)R Patz sing on youtube and almost melted… he’s hot, plays the guitar and sings. What’s next? He cooks? LOL
I must admit, the poster is not my fav and I like the original first one better. You’re right, I think it’s the angles of their body they look so disconnected. I do LOVE the soundtrack though. The Paramore song, “Deocode” is especially awesome!
this is poster rocks coughmyboyfriendcough looks hot!!!!!
ahahayes paramore got int he twilight sountrack awsome cant wait AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
srry lost my cool there
The poster looks like it was made by a child. Rob isnt meant to be Frankenstein. If you look at the new images posted on http://robpattinson.blogspot.com/ you see how stunningly beautiful he is in the film so why not show it. Summit dont knwo how to treat Rob or Rob’s fans right. More than a little chagrined.
i dont like the poster. it looks stupid. and i think the movie might flop because of it. Kristen Stewart is not that kinda actor and Robert Pattinson, although he is a good actor, i think hes a tad better at the whole music thing. i dont like the sound track either. whats up with the muse song? no jacks mann? and linkin park?! i do agree though, that paramores “decode” is a great song. i am just bummed about the whole movie. LONG LIVE READING BOOKS!
Rob should sue. The poster for his new film Little Ashes is a million times better and yet it only has a tiny budget.

Rob’s going to be wonderful and really happy his music is on the album. The poster sucks though.
Is there any chance of pulling this poster. They really need to. Pattinson will be the next Depp. He’s amazing
Well… the poster is not the greatest, but eventhough.. yes… the angles of their bodies is not right. but still, Edward’s skin color is perfect… he is suppoused to be like a dead body… he is a VAMPIRE! So I think is right. The eyes also look kind of strange. But he still is so perfect, his jaw line, his nose and lips… hot hot hot!
LOL, she looks like she’s twisting her head a la The Exorcist. Can’t wait for her to start spitting pea soup all over everyone.
Also the soundtrack is fine… specially Paramore’s and Blue Fountain’s tracks. I was expecting Time is running out from Muse… that song: You will be the dead of me!!! is just perfect!!!! Still… let’s watch the movie first and then… check out the reference of the soundtrack to it.
i wish they’d found someone else to play edward because robert pattinson is not handsome enough.
I adore Rob and think he’s the most gorgeous guy on the planet but that poster sucks big time. EW owed him an apology for their cover and now Summit owe him one too.
Anyway at least he got the New Hollywood Award. Congats Rob its so well deserved as was the best actor award at the Strasbourg film festival for playing Art in How to be.
as IF i’m 40 years old and SO EXCITED TO SEE THIS MOVIE!!!!!!! heh
Are they trying to make my Spunk Random un-handsome? If they are, they’re going down!
I’m just kidding. The previous poster is a thousand times better. A little mysterious with a much better tagline. They both looked beautiful in the other one, now Spunk looks like a monster.
Oh brother – isn’t Edward supposed to be almost ethereally beautiful? They’ve photoshopped him into a laser-eyed ghoul. (And I would have thought that impossible with RP.)
I wish they had used Muse’s Time is Running Out instead.
Summit are not investing enough in their pr. Didnt they take on a new woman to cover the pr on Twilight. Wake up woman the poster is appalling and should never have been signed off. The first one is much better.
Pattinson bless him must be fed up of dealing with such shoddy organisations. At least EW have given him a solo cover. Summit owe him a more interesting Edward in New Moon.
Summit and EW now have something in common – they have shafted Rob Pattinson.
Your fans love you Rob. Big hugs.
Summit and the photoshop people wouldnt know ethereally beauty if it fell on them. Lucky that Rob is naturally ethereally beautiful so the film looks wonderful.

Its great to see those non photoshoped images of Rob. Why do they insist on altering his wonderful looks.
I’m not happy with the poster but I’d rather look on the positive. Rob has a track onthe album, he just received a best actor award for How To Be and has been awarded a New Hollywood award too. On top of that his film Little Ashes has got its festival premiere sold out and they are having to put on more showings. The same goes for his other Indie film How To Be. People are clambering to see his other work and travelling long distances to see the films. So a poor poster isnt worth wasting time over.
blah about the soundtrack. glad Rob is on there but only one song? thought there was supposed to be two. grateful for one though! but collective soul? really? seriously? the poster is weak. he still looks amazing though. “sphinx-lady statues” hilarious! thank you for that.
and to emily: not. handsome. enough?! may i suggest a vision check? or that you obtain a seeing eye dog?
I agree. This poster is shockingly bad and I can’t believe it is done by anyone who has read the book or that the producers would sanction it fitting for Edward. He is supposed to be a good predator because he draws you in with his beauty. The Cullens look normal enough to go to school. Those eyes look like an alien or something. Horrible. If I knew nothing about Twilight, I would be turned off by this poster.
UR JUST A TWILIGHT HATER GET A LIFE THIS POSTER IS GREAT SO BACK OFF….BUT I LYK THEY GOT THE DATE RIGHT 2…
This poster is atrocious! Aaah! Robert Pattinson is so gorgeous and this poster is just awkward. Why can’t he just look he does in the movie? Not creepy or weird, you know, just beautiful.
Why can’t they make Edward look beatiful? he looks ugly and like his eyes were stung by a bee. i still believe they should have casted Chace Crawford but whatever. I really wanted “Bleeding Love” to be on the soundtrack since it seemed obvious to me that it should be.
Wow. Twilight and Neverending Story in one blog – I think I love you.
