I just found out that my friend Sheila has never seen Pretty Woman, and that after holding out 18 years, she’s made it her mission in life not to — just because she wants to see if she can pull it off. I was going to ridicule her until I remembered that I’m never going to see Pulp Fiction. Or a single moment of The Hills.
I suspect we’re all playing this irrational, stubborn game with something… So out with it: What movie, TV show, or stage production are you trying never to give yourself the opportunity to enjoy? Or maybe there’s a book you’ve vowed not to read or a song you’ve refused to hear?

The Notebook.
That would be anything and everything to do with Miley Cyrus, The Jonas Brothers and High School Musical.
High School Musical. Short of strapping me down to my couch and forcing my eyelids open a la Clockwork Orange, nothing is going to get me to watch it.
Lord of the Rings or any of its incarnations.
Dirty Dancing
i know all the famous lines and the storyline, but i have no interest or need to see it
I, too, have never seen Pretty Woman. I have also never watched an episode of the Sopranos.
I know lots of people who have never seen Star Wars, which I consider entirely unAmerican.
I absolutely love this question. I have never seen Titanic or Grease, out of sheer principle. I would have had House on that list, but recently I saw an episode, and it wasn’t half bad (I’m kind of ashamed of myself).
i refuse to read any book designated an “oprah” book. every time she recommends a new novel just seems like the ultimate lambs to slaughter or lemmings over the cliff action. millions of housewives everywhere apparently no longer have the ability to find a book to read on their own. and though i am not a housewife, i refuse to be blinded by that blindingly inane oprah pick sticker.
I have never seen Pretty Woman, Pulp Fiction, or The Hills either. I’m not really avoiding the first two, but I refuse to ever watch a moment of The Hills. Other things I’m avoiding like the plague include the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise and any procedural show (CSI, Cold Case, Without a Trace, etc).
The Hills, The OC, Beverly Hills 90210, Entourage, HSM, The Real World (any incarnation), Road Rules (any incarnation), Dog the Bounty Hunter, Cold Mountain, any Saw movie and nothing to do with anyone getting any kind of intervention. However, I will watch the Kardashian clan because I’m waiting for the train to wreck and I want to see it happen.
ET first is was not a big deal I just did not see it now I am proud of the fact
Forrest Gump. Never seen it, never will.
Im a huge tv junkie…but for some reason i have never seen an episode of Amazing Race or Survivor they have been on forever and now b/c they have i want to see if i can go through life w/o ever watching them.
Oh and i have never seen an episode of any Law & Order or CSI either and again i refuse too!
i never, ever plan on seeing star wars.
Harry Potter. I have read none of the books or seen any of the movies. I don’t really plan on starting any time soon.
I’ve never seen the end of Titanic, I turn it off right before it hits the ice berg. I too will never see Pretty Woman or Forest Gump.
Titanic… and never will.
The Hills, for sure. I was also planning to never, ever see Star Wars until I was forced to watch them before going to Comic Con with my company this year. Sigh.
ANy of the Lord of the Rings books or moview, or any of the Harry Potter books or movies…never EVER want to either.
Any Reality show, Entourage and manufactured kid stars and kid bands. Jonas Brothers (never heard of them till recently, no idea what they are) and anything and all Oprah, Dr. Phil.
Ah: “I know lots of people who have never seen Star Wars, which I consider entirely unAmerican.”
Word. Also, I’ve never seen Titanic and never will.
The Hills for sure!
And I have never read Harry Potter no matter how many people told me it was great. And I plan to never read Twilight as well!!
The Hills
Extreme Home Makeover
Pushing Daisies (quirky gets old fast)
Dirty Dancing
High School Musical
The DaVinci Code (Tom Hanks annoys me for some reason)
I refuse to watch any movie about slavery or the Holocaust, i.e., Roots or Schindler’s List, even though these are probably some of the most groundbreaking and best films of all time. It just breaks my heart to watch films about people who torture other people for their religious beliefs or the color of the skin.
With all of that said, I didn’t see Pretty Woman until last year. And Mandi – you have to watch Pulp Fiction! That movie ROCKS.
teena, i’m one of those people. i’ve never seen any of the star wars movies and i plan on never seeing them. i’ve also never seen the godfather movies or any episode of the sopranos. i just don’t like the mob! and vampires – i’m against vampires. which means, buffy, twilight – yeah, i’m not watching/watching! sorry!
but i have seen every episode of gossip girl, so i’ve got that going for me. which is good.
The Hills
Extreme Home Makeover
Super Nanny
Musicals (High School or otherwise)
Dr Phil
Miley Cyrus, the Jonas Brothers, The Hills (or any other MTV pseudo-”reality” show), Lord of the Rings, the Saw movies (mostly because I’m too squeamish), any of the books promoted by Oprah’s book club.
ET. I’ve never seen it and I never will.
I’m determined to never watch a moment of The Passion of the Christ or The Hills.
