I doubt I’ll see it opening day…I’ll definitely be seeing “Benjamin Button”. It looks okay, but a couple of things bothered me. At one point, it looked like one of the characters’ hairpieces was on really badly, and when The Spirit is running across the rooftops it totally looks like wire work, which I always find distracting. Hopefully in the finished film that stuff will be addressed.

I preferred the first trailer, but maybe it’s a good thing I saw this one. I don’t think I’ll be seeing it, not in theaters anyway. There are some really great shots, but the dialogue was all kinds of awful.

Yes, it looks like a retread of Sin City. But is that entirely a bad thing? I love Sin City and plan on enjoying this as well. Like you said anything with Scarlett, Sarah, and Eva is worth a gander. Plus, Sam Jackson is still that man (even with all the crap he’s given us over the years). Throw in a little Gabriel Macht (who deserves tons of kudos for his very underrated career) and I am so there! Just not on Christmas-I want my nifty gifties first:)

I will definitely not be there. It’s the same old same old from Frank Miller. The dialogue sounds like it was written by a five year old. The plot looks entirely uninteresting. The acting is just going to be more hamming like it was in Sin City which was totally atrocious.
In a world where we’ve now seen comic book adaptations like The Dark Knight and Iron Man, and even The Incredible Hulk, we shouldn’t have to put up with Frank Miller’s inability to direct anything or anyone. It’s not noir, it’s not action, it’s not even a decent comic book movie. It’s just crap.
I’d rather spend my Christmas day and my money seeing Adam Sandler’s Bedtime Stories then this.

Well, you convinced me to look at the trailer and Gabriel Macht (who was awesome in ‘Because I Said So’) may just get me into the theater to see it. Damn.

Gabriel Macht is definitely a slice, but the CG definitely assisted in hs “in-shape” build. But I’m not jealous. Let’s make that clear right now. Definitely not jealous. Could I say definitely more?

Maybe the less I know, the better; this looks far cheesier than the somewhat intriguing first trailer. “I’m the Octopus, and I have 8 of everything!”
We have to keep in mind that Frank Miller isn’t REALLY a director. He only co-directed Sin City, meaning that Robert Rodgriguez took care of all the actual filmmaking while Miller worked on characterization and tone. It is no surprise that The Spirit looks like Sin City, since that technique is the only style Miller has hands-on experience with.
Personally, being somewhat familiar with The Spirit, I think that the comic skews closer to a Dick Tracy style than a Sin City style.
