I didn’t rewind or call anybody, but I loved every second! I don’t think there’s ever been a TV couple I cheered for more than Jim and Pam. I really hope the writers actually decide to keep them together and let them get married. I mean, it’s a show about an office, which is already a pretty mundane subject. Why not do something that other TV shows aren’t doing? Besides, how funny would Michael’s speech at their wedding be? And then there’s the bachelor/bachelorette parties…
Poor John Krasinski. Should he ever propose to a woman, he is going to have to live up to the Jim standard. I can only imagine that is ridiculously daunting.
I think there are too many comedic opportunities to milk from a Jim-Pam engagement/wedding/baby to really mess this up. You need them to be the center around which the rest of the wacky characters orbit. They keep the show from getting too sitcom-y. And to destroy their relationship is likely to destroy the heart of the show.
Another thing to consider:
“The Office” snagged the post-Super Bowl slot this year…anybody else smell a wedding?
(Personally, I think that slot would be great for a bachelor/bachelorette party with the wedding being the season finale. But I trust these writers to do the right thing: they’ve never let me down.)
I texted my brother, since I couldn’t text my friend (he was watching Grey’s). I shrieked so loud my neighbors must think I’m insane. I couldn’t stop screaming “Yay Jim and Pam!!” When I saw the rain I remembered what Ausiello said and got really excited. GO JIM AND PAM!!!!!
)
I didn’t call or text anyone but I have to say that this is the first time I’ve clapped and jumped up and down for a propasal since Chandler and Monica on “Friends”. I hope the writers don’t do anything really dumb like have them break up. I agree with Nee Nee that there are etoo many comedic goldmines to mine simply by going through all of the typical wedding planning and stuff. And speaking from experience, it could start with Pam trying to plan the wedding from New York. I planned my wedding from 2000 miles away and there are LOADS that could go wrong. But last night’s proposal was so great and romantic. I LOVED IT!!
Let’s just say my husband and I both cheered. And it’s all we’ve talked about this morning at my office.
I rewound my DVR several times and clapped my hands with glee. Most romantic TV proposal ever, hands down! And Jim certainly fulfilled his promise to knock Pam (and us!) on her a** with his proposal! Soooo perfect! Please don’t ever break them up, writers!
I will admit it…I had a tear or two. SO sweet!
I rewound six time, and it was great every time. And, yes, I cried a little because it was the sweetest proposal I’d ever seen on TV. It was so real and full of emotion. Jim’s a doll…
I hope the writers stay true to these characters and that Jim wasn’t proposing b/c he was lonely and that Pam isn’t jumping into an engagement. I am so invested in this couple that I found myself worrying about the sudden proposal the way I would if a friend who had a rough romantic path had just embarked on a pretty big move in her professional life got engaged to someone she’d been dating for less than a year. I don’t think my heart could handle it if they don’t live happily ever after.
I haven’t cared much about Pam and Jim since season two, but I’m glad the show was, you know, funny again. I hope that’ll continue. I gave up on the show before the strike, and I missed liking it.
The Office? Bored now.
“Be honest: How many people did you text or call?”
Zero — I’m a guy
I texted three and blogged about it!
Oh.
And I’m a GUY.
Hey Miriam? ‘Bye, now.
