We know how the story ended with David and Goliath, but what about David versus David? Of the two Idol alums, one’s a little bit (okay, a lot bit) poppy, the other’s a little bit rock’n’roll; one’s bubbly, the other’s stubbly; one’s got an innocent “Crush,” and the other wants you to leave the “Light On.” My colleague Margeaux Watson and I sat down to discuss the musical prospects of the dueling Davids as part of our larger series of discussions about the fall music season (click here to see ‘em all!). But given how decidedly different the two Davids actually sound, here’s a question for you: Is it possible for both Mr. Archuleta and Mr. Cook to find success on the charts this season? Or, do Idol fans feel like even though the theme weeks and speed dialing are finished, the competition still rages on?

Articles like this are what keep the unnecessary competition going. Your obviously looking for hits to your site, as for the majority of David and David fans, the competition is over! OVAH!
My answer to you question is YES, they can both have success in their career, their music is totally different. The competition is over, done deal! I personally like David better, but Cook has a strong fan base also, & he is a very nice guy! So give it up already!

You guys at EW/Popwatch, HAVE to know what you’re doing when you start a topic that pits Archuleta vs. Cook in any way. In fact, you guys probably realize that any article that just mentions Cook without mentioning Archuleta (and vice versa) is going to inevitably lead to a screaming match between the more psychotic fans in each singer’s camps.
Shame on you, EW. The only reason I can see for you doing this is assuming you have some sidebets going such as “What’s the over/under for the number of posts until an Archuleta fan takes a shot at Cook?”

i was a HUGE carly smithson fan throughout the competition (even did a little call in interview with mr. slezak on idolatry), but settled on cook after her untimely exit. that being said, after seing both archie and cookie on tour..twice…i enjoy both the boy and the man for different reasons.
i have already pre-ordered both davids’ albums. i think their is room for both to have huge, successful careers, with a little left over for a big voiced tattooed irish lass.

Coming out of band camp, I think not. Have you checked the billboards and record sales of David Archuleta. Maybe you should of done your homework before doing this video.

Once again, I see two “wanne be” journalist/reporters (whatever you call yourselves) who are simply trying to look “cool” but coming off as cluless! You obviously are not familiar with David Archuleta’s work as an artist and you will be eating your words in no time, because he is on a short path to SUPER STARDOM!
Oh, you two little women just think if a singer is as young as David Archuleta that they are not “old” enough to be a singer. Well, that is offensive to those of us who look for music for its quality not it’s LOUDNESS in our ears.
Please be a bit more considerate of his age and style,.
And, just because the loud guitar sound is not drumming through your ears does not mean the song doesn’t send shivers down your spine. Maybe, for once, the voice of David Archuleta is enough for some musically in tune to appreciate. I don’t think you even considered their voices in the discussion here. It was just about the noise of the instruments. So, I’m hopeful that your next coverage of the two will be the vocal talent of the two and not the instrumentation abilities of the two. For the guitar quality that Cook has I will commend, agreeing with Simon Cowell that keeping the guitar attached to Cook will be his best asset. And Archuleta’s voice is what makes him most desired!!!!!!

David Archuleta’s Crush was the highest single debut since 2007 and the highest ranking single debut in Idol history. So, that is something phenomonal for such a young music artist. His stardom is guarenteed. And David Cook looks to have a pop ballad coming out this week which looks to do very well also. Cook’s song is definately NOT ROCK girls. You need to do your research on what rock music is.
But, they both should do very very well in the music industry. So, please give them both respect regardless of age, race, or music style. We hope for no discrimination!

Both Davids will do very well in their own right-yes there is plenty of room for both Davids in the music biz as they are in different genres!
