Better now than never: Having aimlessly rolled through life in a sequined/fringed DWTS bubble until yesterday, I didn’t get to catch up with Stewart and Colbert until late last night. Good thing I did; otherwise I would have missed Jackson Browne’s thoughtful interview and low-key performance of "Going Down to Cuba" (from his new album Time the Conqueror, released Sept. 23) from Tuesday’s show. In my mind anyway, the relaxed presentation of the Report‘s classic rock musical guests has been just superb. Press play below to hear Browne-y doin’ a helluva job.
I might have better related to "Running on Empty" (the song Browne is suing John McCain for using without permission) right aboutnow, but "Going Down to Cuba" just calmed me down big time. Either title could be my "away" messageright now, actually. Don’t test me! I’ll do it! I will GO to Cuba.
Want more? Read our exclusive Q&A with easy-breezy-beautiful cover boys Colbert and Jon Stewart, who enjoy posing in silly costumes almost as much as Maks.

As far as his iraq comment goes, I think we all want to be out of there as quickly as possible, mccain included. It’s just a matter of when we can get out of there safely and with the job done.
Personally I think the whole music thing is nuts. On both sides. Who cares? I feel like writing some music and putting it out there just so people could use it in a sense like this and I could say “go ahead.” Of course one shouldn’t steal music or exploit the usage of a song, but for something like this…who cares.
Let’s all go down to Cuba and chill with Fidel and live in communist controlled poverty.
Musician’s songs are legally protectd. Remember Napster and all the arrests? McCain has been using a number of songs without permission (John Melloncamp, Heart, ABBA) and getting slammed repeatedly for it. Interesting, aps, that you would mention a communist country. Apparently you thing that music becomes communal property and that anyone can use it without permission. Not so in the USA. I sure wouldn’t approve of McCain using something I wrote without permission (I wouldn’t give it of course!)
McCain and or the GOP USED Jackson Browne’s song Running on Empty in a smear campaign against the candidate Jackson Browne has supported in this election. Copyright infringement AND mis-used even if he had asked for it legally, as Jackson says, he wouldn’t have gotten it. No reason on earth for a peace-loving, humanitarian like Jackson Browne to let a war-monger like McCain use JB’s song to promote his agenda.
