This is another one of those if-you-know-it-you-might-hate-yourself ones: What 1998 teen movie used Yazoo’s "Only You" (below) in its climactic scene?
Bonus question, to reboost your self-esteem: "Only You" was used by what TV show for a long-awaited kiss?
The answers, after the jump.
The movie: Can’t Hardly Wait (fast-forward to 5:00)
The TV show: The Office (UK)

It wasn’t kiss #1, they kissed once before on red nose day!
so can’t hardly wait was being re-run on some basic cable station yesterday. but that scene of The Office just made my day. Thank you.
Nailed it!
Ohhh Can’t Hardly Wait! I (embarrassingly?) know every word to that movie and used to watch it all the time when I was in high school. Joshua Radin did a cover of that song; it’s really good.
I love that song! It’s timeless and romantic without being cheezy.
Also, it was prominently featured in the 1988 movie “The Chocolate War” (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0094869/soundtrack)…
The second I heard the song I knew it was Can’t Hardly Wait, but I’m not embarrassed. I graduated high school that same year and still love that movie.
In the words of the great Kenny Fisher….”Why you gotta waste my flava’?!!?
OMG, I actually GOT that one! And I didn’t even see that movie…
Can’t Hardly Wait!! Love that movie, but really this song is immortalized by The Office U.K. Martin Freeman kills me in this scene every damn time.
I actually went to a wedding this summer and this was the song that their first dance was set to. Can’t Hardly Wait was the first movie they saw together.
OMG! Two of my favorite things with my FAVORITE song!
1) “Can’t Hardly Wait”. (Also known as the best high school movie from my high school years.)
2) TIM & DAWN’S BIG KISS in the Christmas special of the BBC’s “The Office”!!
Best song ever for an emotional high point?? I vote yes.
Heheh…”Cheetah, rawr!” I LOOOOOVE Can’t Hardly Wait…y’all don’t even know. And I love that half of them ended up on Six Feet Under.
OK, I meant to say “like half” instead of half, but…well, you know what I’m saying. Lauren Ambrose, Freddy Rodriguez, and Eric Balfour were all in CHW and ended up on Six Feet Under. So even Alan Ball paid attention to this awesome little trinket of a movie that, apparently, we’re supposed to be embarrassed to know and love. So there. “Yo, you want summa dis?” Love it.
