'America's Got Talent': The Final Five!

Kaitlynmaher_l Last night’s episode of America’s Got Talent was a fascinating study in television. For who would have imagined that they could stretch five people getting kicked off the show into a half-hour ep? What could have been a five-minute segment at the end of another show turned into its own spectacle, complete with a musical performance by Natasha Bedingfield! I’m still baffled as to why she was there.

The first to stay were Nuttin’ But Strings, which means we had to say goodbye to the Wright Kids. But this wasn’t just any goodbye. This was a goodbye complete with a video montage of their greatest moments, and then a Corner Cry Cam of them watching, heartbroken, as they saw how far they’d come. We then watched Paul Salos, Kaytlin Maher, Joseph Hall, and Jessica Price all get booted. But this means we’ve still got Neal E. Boyd, Nuttin’ But Strings, Queen Emily, Eli Mattson and Donald Bronzewell (I’ve been waiting to make that pun all season)!

PopWatchers, who’s your pick? Do you think they deserve it? And did anyone else notice that all the contestants were wearing the same things two nights in a row, even though both episodes this week were supposed to be live? Weird…

If Nuttin’ But Strings doesn’t win then I’ll be highly disappointed. :| I’m sick of singers and NBS actually has TALENT.

Finally America got it right. The final 5 is made up of who exactly should be there. NBS all the way. I think the finale is 10/17 because of the fall TV season starting. So lame that we have to wait that long to find out who wins. But then again, you think they would give us that kind of gratification, to have the results the very next evening. Nope, let them drag out that much longer, we’ll take it. HAHAHAHAHA
So glad KM is gone. She handled it well, if that’s what you want to call the deer in the headlights response she typically has because she really isn’t aware and doesn’t understand all that much of what is going on most of the time. I think Disney will pick her up in an instant so that Mommy and Daddy’s pockets won’t be empty for to long.

I haven’t watched the show in weeks. These folks just don’t have that much talent. I see plenty of Queen Emily’s weekly at church, but they sing better and don’t blubber. Speaking of blubber, the only reason anyone would pay to see Neal E Boyd would be to see who wins the heart attack pool. I give him 12 minutes into his first show, after he cries for 8 of them. Braswell is mediocre dinner theatre talent. Like the sting boys but wouldn’t pay to see them. Wow, America has Low Standards!!!

Nuttin’ But Stingz should win. They have a lot of talent and passion for what they do and I would definitely pay to see them perform live. Also Queen Emily is really good but I hope NBS wins.

I think the judging went O.K. As far as Queen Emily is cocerned, I hate to see people lose their humility, and that is exactly what she has done!

I have been watching this from the beginning. I honestly think that if you are a singer then you shouldn’t be allowed to try out for this show. There should be a separate singing show for the older crowd that would be disqualified at American Idol.
I think that Nuttin but Stringz has to win this thing. I really like Eli but he should be trying out for Idol. Glad Kaitlyn Mayer is gone; she was adorable but a Vegas Act? Shame on her parents. If this is not a case of child exploitation what is? I don’t think that any child under the age of 12 should be allowed to try out. The Wright kids were cut but definitely not a Vegas Act.
The Toble Family…catch a few re-runs of the Osmond Family Show…this has been done and re-done far too often.
This is a talent show not a singing show. Enough with the singers…if this come back next year…no singers…of any kind and or of any description.

Folks, it’s Nuttin’ But Stringz, with a Z, and I’ve been pulling for them ever since their audition. I’d like to see Donald Brasswell come in second, but they keep giving the poor man such god-awful, drippy show tunes that I can’t imagine it happening. (Why can’t they offer him Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah”? *That* he could blow the roof off with!) As T Bag says, Queen Emilys are a dime a dozen. Neil hits altogether too many sour notes. The potential spoiler is Eli, who’s got real commercial value, but Nuttin’ But Stringz is an act I’d not only pay to watch, but but they’re inspirational as well. They show little urban kids that you don’t have to be a playa to be cool!

Queen Emily is good but go to any predominantly African-American or for that matter also Canadian Black Church and you’ll probably find a singer with a similar voice.
I was right when I first stated Eli Mattson was channeling Elton John and Wednesdays performance proved it.The only thing is Elton John IS better.
Neal E. Boyd,Well Paul Potts sang Nessun Dorma on Britain’s Got Talent with the voice of an angel and tears were flowing because his voice was and is a gift from God.
Donald Braswell good for a musical or lounge singer.
Nuttin’ But Strings Now that’s TALENT!!!I do hope America votes recognizes unique and true talent. They pull my heart strings and pour out energy!!!!!

  • Kelli

Im sorry but Kaitlyn brought tears to my eyes everytime I hear her sing. No ways at that age could you have a vegas act I understand, but she was as sweet as they come.

I agree: NBS should win this thing. That is an act that I would definitely pay to go see. Eli will do fine no matter what; I suspect there is already an agent salivating in the wings with a contract in his hand. Queen Emily is very good (never been to a black church, so don’t know about the proliferation), but I am not sure she could hold together a Vegas show. Donald Braswell has a voice that belongs on Broadway. I can see him in Phantom or some such show, but I don’t see him winning. However, gotta give the guy credit for persevering. He really has had a rough go of it. And Neal E. Boyd? He is good, but not good enough for a Vegas act. Again, I think he probably belongs in a Broadway show as well. Nuttin’ but Stringz…you bet I’d pay to see them. These guys have TREMENDOUS talent. They know who they are, they are proud of it, yet they are humble enough to understand where they COULD be if they had not had a mother who pushed them and supported them along the way. Vote NBS!!

None of these acts really thrill me this year. I wish I could have heard Donald Braswell before his accident. He was trained at Juilliard and must have had a phenomenal voice. He’s still my sentimental pick, because I don’t think any of the singers are all that. NBS is very talented, but I think all their performances are pretty much identical. After 2 or 3 songs I would get bored in a Vegas act. The Cirque de Soleil sideshow the other night was weird and distracting.

  • DragonFly

I was pulling for Jessica until I saw her family booing the other performers. My bet is Eli Mattson will take the whole show now.

  • LEX

NBS ALL THE WAY!!!! SOMETHING NEW, EXITING AND FRESH–LOTS OF TALENT THIS YEAR BUT NBS IS WORTH THE $$ IN VEGAS

  • Dee

Well I expected this result pretty much but did anyone see Jessica Price’s face before and after the results were read. Did anyone see the face of maybe her sister booing the results. Can’t say I’m disappointed in them leaving with that attitude now.

  • Stephanie T.

I predict that the top two will be Eli Mattson and NBS. NBS will win.
